Every thinking person must reject the traditional understanding of the Jesus story. But what really did happen? Did Jesus survive the crucifixion? A completely plausible theory. What happened after his recovery from his wounds? Where did he go? This video makes a fascinating claim that he died in Kashmir, India.

Fascinating stuff.

Fascinating but as realistic as the Da Vinci Code.

The Japanese also believe Jesus travelled to Japan and lived past 100.

What does this have to do with working in Korea? Move this to another forum.

Given there's the most minor evidence Jesus even existed, let alone any independent confirmation regarding the stories in the actual bible (slaughter of the innocents? you'd think that would be in the historical record), any of these kinds of "theories" are wild speculation. A slippery slope. "If this is possible, then maybe this could have happened, and then maybe this."

Unfortunately, I'm not going to watch a 40 minute documentary just this minute. Any text or transcript regarding this theory to look at?

I understood the job-related forum was for work discussion,
the general forum was for living in korea related topics,
and that off-topic was for, well, off-topic. And this is about a off-topic as I think it can get.

I've read credible research about the possibility Jesus migrated and died in India.

For starters is there even good evidence Jesus existed in the first place? The gospels are clearly the works of devotees. We would largely discount the history of Kim Jong Il. We have, what, at best maybe 2 mentions of Jesus in the historical records and I think at least one of them is "someone said there was this guy". So to call research that Jesus migrated to India "credible" I think is a stretch.

I love that so much. It's the height of arrogance. They don't even realise that suggesting Christ slipped away from his execution and let someone else get crucified in his place would be the biggest insult and would undermine everything Christianity is about. But hey, Japan is so awesome even Jesus moved there and took a Japanese wife.

Absolutely true. There is zero evidence that Jesus existed. He may have, and he may not have. But if he did exist and he was crucified, and blokes saw him kicking about a few weeks later, which of the following scenarios is more likely:

1) He died and was later resurrected by a god.
2) He survived the crucifixion, got medical treatment, recovered, got his belongings together, and got the hell out of town.

Number 2 seems a whole lot more plausible. After all, it is virtually IMPOSSIBLE for an adult to die from crucifixion after a few hours. (And they didn't even break his legs. How convenient.)

You seem like the kind of guy who gets wood watching Passion of the Christ.

Which is a more likely scenario?

1) A bunch of religious people want to have a figurehead for their religion so they choose a guy who lived and stuck out in people's minds, and they deify him.
2) A bunch of religious people want to have a figurehead for their religion so they make up a story about a fake person.

Whoa Whoa Whoa... Slow down... Jesus never existed? I am NOT a religious guy and you'll often find me telling bible thumpers how stupid they are. But Jesus, the man, mortal man, did exist and I have no problem admitting that he existed and that he probably did many great and wonderful things for many people. Now, Jesus as the son of God, or admitting that God actually exists, well, that my friends, is a fairy tale.

I have no belief in god, or any of their ilk.
I have little doubt however that a long time ago there was a very special individual who perhaps did things that were unexplainable; perhaps even unexplainable with the science of today. As the previous poster said though, son of god? I also think that parts just a wishful fairy tale.

If we had had tinfoil hats thousands of years ago to protect the mind from being brainwashed, perhaps religion wouldn't be the irksome thorn it is now.
