|
|
For my last public school job I was hired directly by the school, no EPIK or other involvement. I liked this because I had more vacation time, more perks, etc.
All available jobs I seem to find now are for EPIK, GEPIK or SMOE. Does anyone know of where to find good public jobs outside of these organizations?
Thanks for any help. |

I would say through recruiters ... I got a job in March this way ... Many are not advertised directly as individual jobs ...
But even saying that it is also true that many of the schools who recruit directly are also using now using the organisational contracts as their starting point ... So even though I was recruited directly my contract is effectively a GEPIK contract.

Ditto,
My contract is more or less like a EPIK contract but there seems to be no true oversight by EPIK so I get perks I might not get if I was actually in EPIK....That's my opinion, though... |

Lots of schools would hire directly if they knew how or had teh ability.
If you are here and want to do it, make a bilingual resume and cover letter and pass it out to the schools in the area you want to work in.
Chances are you will get a call from one (or more) of them.
Alternatively, you can network at / through the open classes that you teach / attend and let it be known that you want to change schools. If you are well thought of / do a good job you will get an offer. |

Yes,
Do it through I recruiter...thats how my partner and I were hired ...And its been wonderful ....we don't have all the bloody hassels as EPIC ...at the school I work at there is me and another foreigner that is through EPIC....his vacation time is restricted where is mine is more or less flexible...but of course, it depends on your admin and principal ect.
