Those hours are a lot better than a lot of people's. They sound pretty good really. Standard PS hours are 8:30-4:30 roughly (8 hours), so yours are only an hour longer and you get paid more for the after lunch stuff. Sounds pretty good. They should be paying you at least 20,000/class for the hours on top of your contracted 22 or 25 (what does your contract say about that?) |

It depends. I teach 24 classes a week, but only 4 different lessons, so there's not that much prep involved. Ask how many of the classes would be learning the same lesson. If you do have to prep individulally for all those classes, then it would be too much. Didn't think about that. |

It's an English center run by the public school district. They use 'smartboards'. Whatever that is. I suspect there is little to no prep involved since it's using computers. |

I find it a little strange that there are no breaks in between classes....
I generally teach 3-4 classes a day and then anything after lunch is extra. Definitely find out what sort of prep is involved and if you have to change classrooms...
No breaks in between classes...I'm not liking that so much.... |

All a smartboard is is a projection screen that you can point at and draw on with markers that interfaces with your computer via USB. It's no world changing education breakthrough, trust me. |

A quick look at it makes me think it looks bad... I wouldn't touch it. |

I have 12 hours a week of English Classes in my High School. I also teach the Korean English teachers 2 hours a week and the other teachers 1 hour a week. That is a pretty light load. I am going to do two 1 hour evening classed a week for students who want to cram. |

It's way too many classes. Even if you only prep two lessons, you're still giving them 9 times and that's tiring. No way could you stay effective for a whole year of that.
Pay could have been a motivator but 2mil for that is ridiculous.
I'd ask for 2.6. They won't give it. Case closed. |

Looking at the timetable again I realised that it is not 9 lessons on each day but 5 lessons before lunch and 2 lessons after lunch (with 2 different possible schedules for after lunch). Depending on the number of different lessons across the week ie the number of different lessons to prep for ... and how much is actually involved in preping for them in could actually not be too bad - especially if their technology (in the smart boards) is matched by at least some lessons developed for them.
It could quite easily be the same lessons used across the week with different classes. It also appears to not have what is on of my biggest bugbears which is lots of time when I have to be at school but don't actually have things that I need to do ...
I think I'd need to know more about it before I could judge just how good or bad it would be ...
I would also have liked to know how much extra would be paid for the after 12 work ... That could easily turn the 2 million into something quite reasonable.
