Gum cracking: real or not? I've never heard it myself, but I've seen a million poster complain about it on this message board.
By the way, this thread has no point. I am just board at work... |

| It was very bad a few years ago, but now it seems the poor and old only do it. I live in Seoul and 2005 it was so bad. But now you hear it now and then. But it's still here. |

I hear it ALL the time.
And yet, isn't one Korean stereotype about foreigners that "we chew gum loudly".... Man, that one makes me chuckle |

I hear it nearly daily. More and more it has been young people, and sometimes men.
I hold it more against them if they are young. They should no better. Old people think they're kings/queens, and were brought up to think that way. |

| I hear it all the time but only usually from middle aged women. It's strange though, I never noticed it until I read about it on this forum. Once I heard it for the first time, it seemed that I started hearing it all the time. It's one of those things that shouldn't really bother me, but it does. Kind of like the way many people walk on the backs of their shoes. I have absolutely no reason to give a shit about that, but it bugs me. |

it's definately not a myth! a very real fear i have is the group smack - a rare but devastating experience where every student in class will be chewing gum simultaneously
goddam group dynamics!! anyway, i feel that korea should ban the stuff as its pure evil (gum that is) |
