What should Korea do about street sellers, loud speaker trucks, and other unregulated merchants? |
Get rid of them. Having clear sidewalks and subway cars will give Korea a cleaner, more professional image. |

Regulate them and force them to pay tax and follow the law. |

Don't do anything, as banning them would cause massive unemployment. |

Don't do anything, and forget about unemployment.
They rule. even when they're in my way. That also rules. |

No.
I was telling the truth, you were not.

this poll is BS as grouping quite street sellers and illegal merchants in the same boat as the loud-speaker vending trucks.
thebum is right. get rid of the loud-speaker vending trucks.
i'm no law buff, but from what i've read, the loud speakers on vending trucks are illegal. like most laws in korea, though, waking people up at all hours of the morning aren't enforced.
leave street merchants, illegal merchants and quite vending trucks alone. if they hurt the MPAA by selling bootleg dvds, i don't care. but waking everyone up with a loud speaker is a direct violation of commonsense decency. |

Well, I guess the loudspeaker trucks are breaking 2 laws then. If the government were to regulate them (as I offered the choice), then they could also tell them the loudspeakers are not okay.
The other sellers....well some of them are pretty harmless. Others park in a bad place on a crowded street, thus slowing down traffic. Others block the sidewalk (when there is a sidewalk at all) and force people to walk on the street or cause congestion. |

I like the street vendors...it's part of Korea's charm.
As for the trucks screaming communist propaganda at 8am...that should be banned by international law. |

If you want to have a shop then
1. find a space and pay rent like everyone else
2. stop clogging up the already narrow streets |

Not possible unless you want to keep thousands of people from eating and supporting their family. They can barely do that now and couldn't afford a rent. I'd rather see a man selling bananas on the street (which I enjoy buying at a moment's notice) rather than a homeless man sleeping on the street. |

I love the outdoor street sellers here.
It's the free market at its best. |
