Where can I get plain (or lightly flavored, like with vanilla), non-fat or lowfat yogurt in Seoul? E-Mart? (And does anyone know where the E-Marts are located? Is there one south of the river near Sillim-dong or on subway line 7?)

I have ocassionally found halfway decent yogurt in convenience stores, but want to get a big container.

I think I have been eating too much bread and other carbs for breakfast and need to start eating yogurt and fruit again.

Thanks!

I can't remember if it's a Lotte Mart, E Mart, or some other store, but there is a big dept. store near the big park at Sillim station on Line 2.

I also don't know if they sell North American type yogurt, the kind you eat with a spoon and with fruit in the bottom.

I can tell you that "yogurt" in Korea is a strange, fruity-milky type drink that works as a laxative.

Happy hunting!

Look for Denmark Yogurt - they make a good plain yogurt. Costco carries it, as do some of the bigger supermarket chains.

As for E-Mart, there's one close to Guro Digital Complex Station, line 2, one stop over from the Line 2/Line 7 transfer.

Yoplait yogurt can be found at most major supermarkets (like Lotte mart and Shinsegae department stores) and at many smaller markets and convenience stores as well. It contains good active cultures including acidophilus...

Denmark plain yogurt has no sugar, but it seems to be made with corn starch or something ...

The best plain yogurt I've found in Korea has been at Indian restaurants including the buffet at the Ashoka in Itaewon...

You can buy active cultures and a yogurt maker at several places including the Hannam supermarket (basement of Volvo building ...)
