The P.E. teachers have the best job of all Korean teachers.
They set in the office all day or set in the shade smoking while the kids are playing. I went to lunch early on Friday and the grade two students where setting in the shade talking on their cell phones, a couple of boys where playing soccer, the others where trying to shoot hoops, and he was setting in the shade about 50 meters away smoking.
Today the kids are just playing catch with a soccer ball and he is sleeping in the equipment room.
At my other public school the P.E. only has one or two class a day. One day all he does is sleep and play on the computer and never leaving his desk.

Best job in the world, or worst job? I'd put a bullet in my brain if my life was that much of a joke. The boredom alone would kill me.

I've often thought that yes, they really do have the best jobs in Korea. Actually at mine they do help out a lot with non-PE related stuff but it's still a piece of cake job.

My guess is that their salary is lower than normal?

So I'm in two schools. In one school the Vice Principal came up through the PE track. In the other the Principle did. you will see them monitoring the Playground quite frequently. It appearsthat they expect the PE instructors to be top notch. There are 3 PE teachers in each of my school.

One school boasts the top ranked middle school soccer team. The other has a top notch boxing squad. The PE teachers are also in charge of rules and discipline.

I'm with you on this one Clark.

I often see the P.E teachers taking it fairly casually during classes and when taking tabloid sports like softball and badminton. Behind the scenes though when I got to know the guys, one represented Korea in tae kwon do and one represented in rugby. They probably put in more hours coaching after school than during.

I'd take it fairly easy too if I had do deal with grossly uncoordinated Korean students day in day out.

My school doesn't even have PE teachers. The homeroom teachers do it. I really don't think good PE teachers and good teams have a correlation though because my elementary school just won the Seoul baseball championship.

It's southern pronunciation it sounds like set but they are saying sit.

Kinda like they are saying homosexual when it sounds like homersekjewels.
