I go to about three places in Itaewon, Nashville, Hollywood Grill and Three Alleys. All of these places have a decent clientele(IMHO), and don't usually have patrons/and or staff brawling with each other. Itaewon is one of those places in Korea where you're not supposed to go, but all the talk, and all the sordid stories, bring you there anyways.

I agree; if u visit these three establishments your sure to have an ok time. U rarely see G.I's in Hollywoods also.

hollywood grill bans GI's! Barry the owner used to be one, and he still hates the army. More trouble than their draft drinking butts are worth.

Hillbrow, Johannesburg, S. Africa. Once the hot-spot, now overrun by Nigerians selling smack and crack.

It's the same all around the world people. Why lament? Move on...

Interestingly, Barry Dorscher is an ex-AF linguist (Korean). To get that MOS, candidates have to score high on several evaluation tests as the Defense language Institute in Monterey is said to be one of the best language schools in the world.

I guess my point is that I wouldn't consider Barry an ex "GI." Leave that term for the other white trash/ghetto nigga monkeys that make up 90% of the forces. On the other hand, that remaining 10% contains some of the most analytical and well-rounded people I've met here. Both enlisted folks as well as officers.

Hardly. Let's just say your choice of phrase betrays certain attitudes and leave it at that shall we?

To a degree, yes.

Lower classes (PROPORTIONALLY) unfortunately spawn more undesirable elements than higher classes. Some are either intelligent enough to make it out, some are just very driven, some get lucky. Most will not achieve upward mobility. It sucks but oh well, luck of the draw.

My point was simply that the average (predominantly male) American soldier in no way represents the average (male) American citizen.

Now this I can roll with. I guess sometimes how you put things can be almost as important as what you're saying.

Soldiers do not represent the average Yank? BS. America is a police state. Police states need bulls. Yank bulls are everywhere. You go tell them that they are anomalies. Besides, when push comes to shove America supports the troops. Therefore, you all pull the trigger. Your argument is pretty weak, trader, whichever side of the fence you feel most comfortable on tonight my little kyopo queen.

America is a police state???WTF?Last time I checked there wasn't a draft in the US, service was optional.

Certain types of people tend to make certain decisions. For example, I would guess that it's fair to say that all the foreign ESL teachers here are somewhat independent people, based on the fact that we all decided to leave our families and come here.

When you say that "bulls" are everywhere and therefore they reperesent the average American, you make the same kind of boneheaded mistake in logic that my students are always making! At least once a month I end up trying to explain that the foreigners that they meet here aren't really good examples of the average person from those countries.

I'm gonna avoid the whole obvious election fiasco, and whether the average American really supports any of Bush's policies, cause it's been beaten to death already, and apparently it still hasn't sunk in.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but there were other issues to consider in the last election. Isn't it possible that people voted based on some of these issues?

Police state - far from it, but brainfarts like the Patriot Act are worrying, if effective. Since I'm not olive, I suppose I'm ok with it. Laughing

Ever have one of those pals that stupidly gets into a fight and you have no choice but to back him up? There's always time to lecture later.

Today's lesson for Pyongshin-sekki: "kyopos" are ethnic Korean, whereas I'm half. Got that, my little cracka? Laughing

Are you excluding Westchester and Nassau Counties, Albany, Buffalo, state prisons and drug rehab centers? Smile Very Happy
