It took 3 or 4 days to get my visa from the Korean consulate in China. Plus, you have to get a visa to travel to China and it is expensive for Americans. |

I was working in China prior to my SK return, and I got my E-2 visa issued in Shenyang (old Manchuria); it's Northeast china and isn't very far from Seoul-maybe 2-3.5 hrs. I'm sure there's a flight, as there was a direct flight from my tiny city, Yanji.
Your visa processing will take 4 days. Shenyang has a Korean consulate and it's not very far from the Northern train station just to give you a reference. Make sure you get what you need though, as I got screwed out of a multiple entry visa cuz they hadn't dealt with many western passports/regulations before. I think the next closet Korean Embassy is in Beijing.
The previous poster is right though; You must get a visa prior to entering China, and the embassy is in Seoul - but I'm American and it was like 60,000 won. I forgot where, but I went there to get my tourist visa last August. So, hope that helps. |

| If you go to HK you don't need a visa and you can get the visa in 1 day. Much better option, unless you really wanna go to the mainland. |
