Robots, I hope.
Anyone ever read Ian M. Banks? One of the best science fiction writers of the last 20 years, IMHO...not that I read much of the stuff anymore.

Iain M. Banks (http://www.iainbanks.net/sf.htm) is a fanastic British SF writer. His stories about 'the Culture' are very interesting and represent a good vision of a possible far-future, open-minded universe.

It is. It's nice that someone has recognised it. Dune is my favourite SF novel of all time.

Jihadists unwittingly aid Red Chinese Nuclear World Conquest

Islamic supremacists at war with the world are threatening to send humanity into a hell we cannot imagine. The stage has been set. Western progressive countries have stopped growing and poverty-ridden societies are spreading rapidly. The only large militarily strong and economically growing society in the world today is the Peoples Republic of China.

Stupidity, thy name is jihad
Self-centered jihadists seem to not realize that defeating the United States, most likely by bankrupting its economy or with a smuggled nuclear device, would be the worst thing they could possibly do to themselves. Without a United States to protect them, the jihadists would be fully exposed. A militant, totalitarian China would be the only superpower left in the world. It is inconceivable that China wouldnt take great advantage of this position. For starters, poorly defended, oil-rich Arab countries would be easy prey for oil-hungry China. Small-time terror-funding sheiks wouldnt even know what hit them...

...Jihadists have no hope against China
Red China is the hegemonic gorilla that even suicidal Muslims fear, if only subconsciously, because of its power and equal unconcern for individual lives. China has the will to wipe every non-Han Chinese person off the globe, and Muslims are unwittingly acting as the catalyst. Muslims have no hope against Chinese manufacturing. Muslims cannot walk around freely in Beijing as they do in London . They cannot manipulate principals of human rights or freedom of the press, because those dont exist in China. Without a West to defend them, Muslims will have met not only their Waterloo with China, but their Auschwitz.

ooh me too, me too. I've read it a ridiculous amount of times and I never recognised the significance of your name. Dune Mesiah also kicks ass.

Iain M Banks culture novels are fantastic, really enjoyable reads. I made sure I got a couple at christmas to take with me.

There are some interesting parallels between 'Dune' and Osama Bin Laden ...to Bin Laden in particular, but more generally to all messianic figures convinced (or convincing their followers, at least) that they are fighting a holy war against corrupt invaders who only want them for their oils and spices. Here's a couple articles I managed to scare up...

This one's more about Asimov's 'Foundation' series than it is about Dune but they do make some passing reference to it.

This one's dorkier but interesting as well. http://www.boomantribune.com/story/2007/1/7/02152/21349

And this one's good too.

Yeah, I love the first two Dune books as well. Didn't care so much for his later stuff, but I forgive Herbert completely because his early work was so good.

That is right. China will do whatever it takes, and muslims know this. That is why they don't phuck with China.

I love my country, but America has turned into a paper tiger.....but, some of this is contributed by radical liberals who think it is Americas fault for everything in the world, and in America itself. Thus, people become afraid and apathetic to say what should be said, do what should be done.

The problem is demographic: The couple on the left will probably twaddle about, "finding themselves" into their mid 30s or 40s, and may get around to pumping out 1.3 children. The couple on the right will probably squirt out six, maybe seven.
