During his recent trip to Latin America, Pope Benedict XVI offended millions when he arrogantly suggested that Catholicism had purified indigenous populations, and called the resurgence of indigenous religions a step backward.

Yeah, I don't even like admitting to being a Catholic sometimes.

My mother never got over her pain when as an orphan at the hands of the the Church and the nuns and bishops at the Sisters of Mercy charity houses in the 50's she was abused often and left uneducated and uncared for.

For that reason I believe the Church sucks. Why is it still going? Why hasn't it gone bankrupt?

Why do the churches all practice idolatry? There are gold cups to kiss, bronze eagles on the podiums, smoking urns and all the other fandangled crap. I thought it was about the spirit, not gold ornaments.
And, where's Jesus, not the mother Mary, but Jesus found in all of this? Maybe he was just too much of a hippy or something.

Then the Pope says one can only get to heaven through him and the Church, not through Jesus. That sucks. He sucks.

Why, I would even tend to believe he is a major ahole.

Why would you say that? A lot of Catholic's are actually quite enlightened and not at all like the conservative Christians in the States. We're a bit hypocritical but never the less, Catholics are all pretty liberal in their thinking.

It's been a while since I've been the church, somewhere around ten years, so I could be wrong, but all the Catholics I've known from the northeast in the US are good people who don't take what the pope says or does as anything more then the ramblings of an old man.

Don't confuse the clergy with the parishioners.

I was brought up to be Catholic and I agree with much of what Jesus (if there really was such a person) is purported to have said. But the Catholic Church as an organisation? Like any other, it's purpose is power.

I was unaware, that as a Catholic, you are able to pick and choose which dogma you agree and disagree with, particularly when it comes to the infallible Pope.

Believe it or not a lot of Catholics could care less what the Pope says or does. The Pope for Catholics is kind of like the Queen for Brits; a unique figure head, but still archaic and really irrelevant to the modern world and the realities that we have to deal with in everyday life.

It's not about cherry picking dogmas, it's about realizing that the Pope still lives in the dark ages and abides by a moral code that is out of date, but is bound by ecclesiastical law to preach it.

Some foreigners enjoy the illusion of having nothing at their disposal; it's a convenient excuse for their own lack of ambition.

Say, if you're going to insult these people, wouldn't it work better if they could see it in your sig?

Isn't that kind of like Hitler asking the Jews to thank him for giving them the state of Israel?

You were the kid in elementary school who would call people names from a block away as you were running home. "douche". Rolling Eyes Tough guy indeed. Smell the fear.

Insult? Well, I didn't see that in any of my posts, but some of you girls are pretty sensitive. The two parts of my sig are quite separate, thus the different sizes. I keep the posters small because they are.

I find it funny how a team of 'cardinals' get together to decide who should be the man closest to 'God' on Earth during the conclave.

<----------------<<
They picked this mutant. He represents every bent priest/missionary and orders the payment of millions of dollars to 'settle' sex abuse cases out of court. Why? To maintain the solid reputation of the Catholic church.
I hope they re-open the coliseum for business.

He does wear a funny hat though.
