Has anyone here kept an account open after they left? What are the laws on that?

You can do it. Just don't close it. The bank will not know if you are gone for good or not. Why would a bank care if you left money in it for them to use?

For complete rules about closing your account from overseas, ask the bank.

What do you mean by *non-resident*.

Even if you are here for a year, you are classes as a resident and you can open an account, as long as you have an ARC.

I kept an account open for five years with less than 10,000 won. No problem.
