| So all my recruiters say that nice schools only pay 2.0 because they are in good locations and everyone wants to work there so if I wont take the 2.0 someone else will. It is a nice location. What to do? |

Recruiters are full of shit. Their rent depends upon getting you placed so they'll say just about anything to convince you to take a job.
But you are allowed to use more than one of them. Keep hunting until you find something that satisfies.

| 2.0 million is acceptable if your hours are less that 3:00/4:00pm to 9:00/10:00pm. If you're working more than that, 2.0 isn't so great. Remember: you're in the driver's seat. Hogwans need you more than you need them. |

actually this job is 9:30-6 but its 100 teaching hours. yeah i have so many recuriters i cant keep track. its in a nice central seoul location though  |

Absolutely true.
I second the advice others have given you - shop around until you find what you want. You will. The best advice someone gave me was don't sell yourself short in this country.
Of course, after you've found an offer you like (in terms of money, location etc), do your best to find out as much as you can about the working conditions. I'm sure there are many people that would choose a heavenly job that pays 2.0 over a hellish 2.1. |

my biggest regret is discovering daves AFTER i got to korea. take on board all the advice people are giving, and don't settle too quickly. there are way more positions to be filled, than people to fill them.
get a checklist of what you want, and don't settle for anything less.
i love korea, but the last 7months have been hell with my hagwon, and i wish i'd done more homework. |

| Get pictures of the apartment you are going to move into. Other than getting a crappy job, would be having a place that is rotten to come home to. Odds are that the apartment will be small, but so long as it is clean and well maintained. |

Dollars to donuts they count 50 classroom minutes as 50 minutes of teaching. 100 hours will be the same 120 classes that'd you get at a school that counts one 50 minute class as 1 hour. 9:30-6:00 everyday would suck. I get my 30 hours of teaching in from 10:00-6:30 MWF and 10:00-2:15 TTh. They're basically asking for 8.5 hours more a week from you for $0. |

Well, as a newb you can't be too picky, but that contract you mentioned sounds absolutely rotten...at school for 9.5 hours a day, with probably 25 or 30 classes a week? That's too much work, dude.
Your recruiter has a point about location, but it sounds like he/she/it is dealing with a bunch of schools that try to save money by hiring newbies. Not a good sign...you can do better. |

| It is possible that a Wonderland is a decent school, but rumor has it that they are all pretty much crappy. Talk to some of the current teachers there, and perhaps the one that you are replacing. |

I have heard of one person who worked at a Wonderland school and was happy and this one may be good too. BUT, it's best to talk to the teachers who are currently working there first.
