|
|
| I'm looking to get a summer camp job. My E2 visa will run out just before camp season. How do I work at a camp legally? I've heard about the C4 visa...what is the processs for getting one? Will I have to do a visa run or can I just go to imigration? Will summer camps pay for the visa run? Any help is much appreciated. Also, if you have any good tips for a good summer camp gig, please let me know. |

I think you are already aware that you MUST leave the country BEFORE midnight on the last date indicated on your ARC. You cannot just hang around and do the camp.
You can then re-enter on a C4 (short term work visa) or a tourist stamp.
If you have a camp in mind and they are reasonably organized you can get the paperwork done for your C4 and use the E2 exit as your visa run.
Alternatively you can enter on the tourist stamp but you cannot legally work at a camp until you get a C4 visa and yes, it will require a visa run AFTER the camp files the paperwork and gets you the visa confirmation number.
Most summer camps do NOT pay for visa runs or inbound flights. Those that do usually underpay you by a large margin for the privilage of them covering the flight. |

| Thanks, that is helpful. I already have camp directors telling me to just get a tourist visa. But I really don't want to work illegaly. |
