Oneofthesarahs - I completely agree with everything you said in your original post, and Kermo, I also agree with what you wrote.
Jinju and Freaka - could you please reserve your battles to pm's? Because quite frankly, when the two of you hijack every single thread, it gets really old, really fast. You're both just going back and forth, repeating the same lines to eachother, and resorting to namecalling. It's rather reminiscent of my middle school days. It's obvious to all of us that you two don't get along in the cyber world. We get it already. My suggestion, either leave it to the pm's, start your own thread to rip eachother up that doesn't intrude on other legitimate threads, or just knock it off all together.
As a female on this board, I've been on the receiving end of both negative and positive comments from other posters here. Unfortunately, most of the positive comments I have received have been on my physical appearance on the how hawt are you thread, rather than my contributions to the board. While I do appreciate the compliments (as would any male or female alike), I would hope that other aspects are important as well. I like to think I'm helpful when I'm able to be, and try to leave my negative retorts at the door as much as possible. I would like to think that my advice, and replies to some threads are appreciated as much, if not more than my appearance.
On the other hand, I'm certain that I have read threads about females on this board who judge the male posters as well. While it may be as a retort, or to stand up for themselves, it is also just as unnecessary and inappropriate. When a woman keeps referring to "yellow fever", and saying that the men are ONLY here to screw as many Koreans as possible, it is also just as negative.
Gender stereotyping, towards EITHER gender, should just be a banned topic on this board. Yes, it's true that most stereotypes develop because a fair group of people fit the mold, but it's not everyone, and it's definitely not appropriate. Quite frankly, I'm getting tired of reading these threads, for the simple fact that it SHOULDN'T be an issue in the first place. Males and females both have opinions that should be weighed equally, as a different perspective can often be beneficial, but to insult, demean, or otherwise dismiss an opinion or individual simply because of their sex is starting to piss me off.
End of rant. |

I am all for this. I would like Jinju to quit jumping into threads to hurl personal insults at me. I would also like Jinju to promise that he won't resort to those same insults the minute he finds himself on the losing end of an argument...as I'm sure that he and I will get involved in some of the same threads in the future whether we like it or not. And finally, I would like him to refrain from sending me anymore PMs of any nature. If he agrees to the above, I will never say one more negative thing about Jinju. I won't even agree with all the others who say negative things about Jinju. This is a promise.
What do you say, Jinju? |

You must be joking, right? You know what I want. You know what you have to do. You think you can insult my wife and then give me conditions? Sorry, Freaka. No dice. |

If my post is the one to end the Jinju/Freaka war, I could go down as a Dave's legend haha.
Seriously, we all know you don't agree. Sometimes people don't agree in life. Not the end of the world.
But there is a time to realize that the battle isn't going to be won, and that stepping down is better for everyone all around. Like I said, should you NEED to say something negative, a pm, or a separate Jinju/Freaka thread for you two to hash it out, at least saves the rest of us from having to read it. That way, if we choose to read it, we can, and if not, we don't have to.
Sounds reasonable to me! |

Holy cow. Freaka - in two weeks you have posted significantly more than I have in ten months. 400 plus and growing. Two weeks.
I'll third what has already been said: you need to learn to walk away, it's an effective rhetorical tactic. |

One thing that bothers me about the attitude of several men that I have met here is that they want a girl who is both submissive and "puts out." I'm sorry, but you can't have it both ways. |
Er, yes you most certainly have it both ways. No contradiction there at all.

I have met a few guys here who have Korean wives who barely speak English, and I think that's really sad. What on earth is the basis of a relationship between two people who hardly share a common language? I'm not saying that marrying a Korean woman is a bad thing, I've met loads of lovely couples. But when men start treating the Korean girlfriend/wife as the Holy Grail, there are some problems. |
Absolute rubbish. Thats your own ( major ) assumption that a relationship is a lot of deep complex discussions. Doesnt have to be. In fact I think talking is WAY over rated. What Im into is love and respect and getting on well. Dont even need words for that. It is very very clear when someone loves and cares for you, no need for excessive talking. The amount of talking has abosolutely nothing to do with how much you love each other, care for each other, and how well you get on. None, nada, zip, zilch. And I find low communication relationships to be great, very very peaceful, and based on a kind of non verbal understanding that is really priceless. Less arguments too, no time to get into anything petty, only big stuff. Its easy to feel when you are loved, and its a wonderful thing, no need for excessive words at all. |

I disagree. Yes, misogyny SHOULDN'T be an issue on these boards, however, the reality is different...because unfortunately, misogyny does exist on these boards. And by misogyny, I'm not talking about sexist remarks. There's a huge difference between "A woman who dresses provocatively shouldn't be respected" and "She deserved to be raped." |

The immaturity here is astounding.
Seriously. Neither of you is willing to step up, and make a separate thread. If one of you is going to offer "peace" by throwing in insults, and the other won't back down, just make another thread! Continue it elsewhere. Then you two get your way by being able to argue continuously, and the rest of us can post in peace. Seriously, the time has come. Step up!
ps - I'm slightly saddened by the fact that the only notable thing to make comment about in my post was the Jinju/Freaka battle. I would hope that more of my post warrants comment, and that these two people don't get to take up any more attention than they've already taken. |

Agreed. This war is bordering on the absurb. And the fact that it goes on and on and on and on is unbelievable to me.
For the love of Satan, take a time out and chill, people!
And I'm not just directing this at the Jinju-Freaka factions. People have to calm down on this board. Even I'm thinking I need a timeout here. Things have gone real downhill real fast in the last week and it's quite sad. Dave's will never be perfect but the amount of bile that is corroding this community is staggering. I'm going to take my own timeout and I hope that in a week things are back to semi-normal.

Yes, I acknowledge that it is an issue in real life. The point I was trying to make, was that it shouldn't be an issue on these boards, and shouldn't be tolerated towards any gender. |
