|
|
My Coteacher said that I don't have to teach one of my grade 1 high school classes today. This is the second week in a row he's "taken" this class from me. To be fair, they are hellions, and I have met with him before asking for advice on how to best manage the class after trying several classroom management approaches.
He never participated in the class before (spaced out most of the time) ,but when I told him I was concerned about the class, he said that he wants me to be happy and that the school wants me to stay for more than a year ("Find a Korean wife and marry so you can stay forever!" were his words).
We also teach several other classes together, a couple of which are less-than-heavenly, but none like that one.
Should I reiterate that I don't have a problem teaching the class? I already told him that I really don't mind teaching them--it is my job, after all. I'm afraid that he took my concerns as a complaint and now he's basically using my one hour / week with them as a study hall.
Oh, and one more thing, he's my boss! |

Exams are coming up soon in public schools...probably something to do with that. |

Are you sure he did not take the class alone because he needed to catch up on teaching the textbook before exams? Sometimes I get that (and I like!). |

Exactly. Happened to me this week, too. It kind of sucks if it's a good class and you had a good lesson planned, but in the end it just makes the kids like and appreciate you more. |

I go that too- thought it was kinda odd- my response was if she was rich enough i would marry her- I think that joke just flew over their head. |

My coteacher took four of my classes this week. So he could start getting them ready for the exams. |

Whew...
Guess this is fairly common then--I didn't even consider they may need more "prepping" for exams since they're...a little "thick."
midian3x--
I said the exact same thing! If a student asks me to marry her I ask "Are you rich? No? Then Noooo!" |

Same here. I haven't seen some of my classes for nearly 3 weeks because they are prepping for end of term exams. Poor buggers
I miss my students

Same here. Sometimes I'll have whole days where every class is pulled by the teachers wanting to exam prep the students.
I don't mind as long as they give me a few days notice so I don't go ahead and prepare a fantastic lesson which no student will ever see. |

Same here, actually I wouldn't even be on this thread if my co-teacher hadn't asked if she could teach the class alone. |

I have taught three classes this week and that is only because the substitute teacher is very good at not going to class.
All the rest were taken away.
Good itching session this week. |
