Its not so bad. I think a lot of it is the vocal minority. But never listen to the vocal minority on any issue. If you are interesting and atleast a bit attractive you will have no problems.

If your not into Korean guys there are still a lot of non-Korean males here that would date a caucasian female.

Not me though. I have the fever and it's incurable.

But no worries. There are a lot of decent guys here.

I am. But I dont buy the angry complaining. Theres no way in hell an attractive, interesting and friendly woman should have ANY trouble getting dates. It makes no sense.

Two cents from a chubby girl with a "cute face"-

It can be frustrating. The most difficult thing is that you'll hear a lot of guys talk about how attractive and wonderful Korean women are (I'm not saying they aren't!!! I'm not saying it's wrong or right or anything, I'm merely noting that it's talked about a lot!!!) and it can do a number on your self esteem.

It really depends on your dating "philosophy." I'm more of a "relationship girl" and in MY experience, it's difficult to have relationships here because everyone is transient. (Per Carrie Bradshaw- it's expiration dating.) Also, to be frank, for me personally, dating is challenging because I'm not- how do I say this- into sleeping around. Sex is a strong force here, and I prefer to wait until I'm comfortable in a relationship with someone. Some guys don't want to deal with that, understandably so.

However, I haven't really had a problem dating, and I'm far from the ideal woman (although hopefully above average Very Happy ). I've dated people that I never would have dated at home, and it's been eye-opening.

Like jinju said...as long as you're not completely hideous and somewhat interesting, you should be fine. Same rules apply here as at home- be friendly and open minded. Some will pass, but that's ok.

I'd assume even if you're hideous, if you're open to dating Koreans it won't be totally boring.

When I first moved here I found the dating pool to be more a dating puddle (of course, I live in a much smaller town, too).

Then I met the woman -- an American -- who is now my wife.

Worked out for me.

If you're near Itaewon or Hongdae and you like to party, you'll have a blast. I'll bet the sucky reports you've heard come from people placed in the burbs (e.g. the whole of Ilsan) or in the countryside (e.g. Kimcheon.) If that's you in the picture you will probably meet someone (or ones) soon enough. The proportions of western or Korean men looking for short term or long term are about the same, at least it seems to me. I think in Itaewon probably any of the main haunts (geckos, hollywoods, blah blah blah) will be crawling with singles but I've been in Hongdae before and I needed other people to find cool places (like that hookah pipe place with the psychedelic hypno wall art, for example. I like that place, damned if I can remember the name though)

Yeah, adding to what others have said, I'd say its actually not that hard to find guys to date because plenty of those guys believe Korean women are not worth the effort... and of course xenophobia helps you.... Actually, if you walk around other Asian countries like China or Japan, you'll see white guys with really hot asian women... here in Korea you see white guys with other white guys.... And most of those white guys wanna be your special friend! Korean guys are actually supposed to be good to date and its possible to have relationships with them, but I've heard story after story of break-ups because of the guys' families not wanting to mix blood...
