You are a little late on this. There were already a few threads about this here. Speaking of the messages posted by readers, check one of the links you gave us again.
Yahoo Korea: http://kr.news.yahoo.com/shellview.htm?linkid=63&articleid=2007051313393417980
You can blatantly check those readers are in the phase where they are sick and tired of the same ole baiting tactics by cheap journalism. You can read Korean, right? |

In fact, Colbert has done Rain, and the Korean pop culture industry, a world of good by publicizing Rain in this skit. After all, Rain and all other Korean pop stars are virtually unknown in America and this gave Americans a rare glimpse into the Korean pop world.
We can not underestimate just how much this coverage of Rain by the Colbert Report will help Rain and the Korean pop industry.
So goes an example of a cultural misunderstanding. See the video clip. It's hilarious! |
Thanks for sharing that! I hadn't seen it before...Colbert is frickin' hilarious! Yeah, it seems that there was a cultural misunderstanding if the Korean press really was offended by Colbert's remarks and music video. |

Colbert mocked Rain, who beat Colbert in an online poll of the world's 200 most influential people by Time magazine, in a recent broadcast of his "Colbert on Demand" comedy show.
He was ranked like number two due to koreans being koreans and voting a hundred times each for him. |

Which certainly is probably not at all similar to how Colbert ranked second. |

| Oh gawd...this idiot Rain. Yes, Koreans are the most hyper sensitive people on the planet. If the west actually gave a rat's ass about the place...Koreans would go insane over all the piss takin'. Rain...what a stupid name. I would expect a singer with that name to be a girl. Considering how he looks, I'm not far off the mark. For people that think that "Rain" is somehow gonna be the next big thing abroad...got news for you...YOU GOTTA SPEAK ENGLISH. White, black and latino kids ain't gonna be singing in Korea. And the only way that this guy has any pub and sells any tickets abroad is to the Korean public. They(and perhaps a few other Asians) are the only ones on the planet who even know who this guy/girl is. We had the 80's, Mr/Ms Raindrop. We also had Michael Jackson. Time to wake up to reality. You ain't gonna appeal to non-Asians, so your best bet is to continue to market your talent-less ass back in Korea. Good riddance... |
