Hey folks,,,whose been there before? I'll be arriving in Hanoi. How did you get to N.T. from there? Airline, train????
Any suggestions on where to stay in N.T.? I've only decided to go there just recently, so i haven't got a lot of general info yet...anything would help!

Agreed. You should be able to fly fairly cheaply.
It is a nice enough place, kind of like Miami but with less Cubans and more paedophiles (seriously, it is a big problem.)
Some nice beachfront bars and cafes, daytrips to surrounding islands, scuba and snorkling. |

Its not bad, though the water was kind of dirty when we were there a couple of summers ago. No real beachfront accomodations, you have to cross a fairly busy road to get to the beach. La Louisianne and the Nha Trang Sailing Club are the best places to hang out on the beach 15,000 dong ($1) will you get you a chair and umbrella. Street scene was getting kind of bad with beggars 2 years ago.
This is actually a good time of year to go there for some reason the SW monsoon doesnt hit there or Mui Ne.
Think you can fly there from Hanoi but you may have to go via Da Nang. |

Nha Trang was nice last october. Take a boat tour if you like to party, the one I went on was a lot of fun. Good restuarants too. Only downside as someone else said is the sex industry seems to have a hold on the place, people tried selling themselves while I was dining in a restaurant! |

Yeah, the bus will be over 8 hours from Hanoi. Take the plane.
As for places to stay, stick to the south en of the beach, near the Asian Hotel. Once you find the Asian (it's a 15 story tower), there will be tons of cheap places on the streets behind it.
If you find it too touristy, too built up and the beaches too dirty, head south on a bus for a few hours to Mui Ne. It's excellent. Nice neach. Quiet, clean, and no vendors. |
