1. Bottle of Pepsi - not a big deal

2. The coffee I had just bought at the shop twenty feet away - $2 deal

3. Bottle of Boar's Head Jalapeno Pepper Sauce - tragic

4. Jar of handmade cherry butter - KUSSSAAAAHHHHH!!!!!!

I know, it's my fault, but damn that new liquid restriction thing is annoying as all hell. I'd been saving that cherry butter for two months so it wouldn't spoil. Now it's chillin in a trash bin along with other orphaned casualties of the government's newest absent-minded crusade. I really feel like Sancho, sometimes, abiding such hairbrained schemes.

Exploding butter. Definitely the Future of Terrism.

edit: typo

you are obviously not talking about a korean airport

the lack of security here is pleasantly lax.

i've brought in and out tons of stuff i thought would get taken away and it's like they don't even see me, wave me through

very unlike Vancouver International Airport

That's fortunate for you. On my last trip to the US from Korea, they took my freakin toothpaste. I guess, conceivably, it could've been packed with C4.. grah.

I had my toothpaste taken away last weekend, granted it was a 4.5 oz tube of toothpaste but I had maybe 10-15 squeezes left in it. They told me the "container was too big."

Jerks.

Just don't put any of that shit in your carryon.

Other than books, DVDs, and my laptop, I take eyedrops, mouthwash, and medication in one medication case (2-4 pills each of ibuprofen, bismuth, throat lozenges, and airsickness pills). Everything else goes checked luggage.

No problems (except for the inconvenience of "random" luggage checks that always seem to select me)

Nailclippers.... I could easily stab someone with a sharpened pencil, but nailclippers are considered lethal. Confused

"Excuse me, stewardess?"

"Yes sir, can I get you anything?"

[Commence heinous 5-minute clipping of her long, polished nails] Laughing

i learned the hard way- you simply have to by a new bathroom set, after each and every flight you take Exclamation totally irritating but we have to all pay for the actions of a few terrorists.

Wouldn't surprise me if colgate and L'oreal have doubled their profits worldwide.

Flying from LA to Reno two years ago.

I have a Zippo lighter in my pocket and one in my carryon. The reason was that I was a smoker, and I was carrying a lot of my most important possessions with me at the time. One of the Zippos was a limited edition handed out to my Grandfather at his Naval base in the 1950s.

I put my Zippo and smokes in the little basket and for the first time I get told that I can't take it on the plane. The reason I had it in my pocket is that I just saw a sign saying that lighters were illegal in checked baggage in a new law.

They tell me it has to go in the trash, or in my checked baggage. I say I thought that was illegal. They say it isn't.

I take out the wick, cotton, and flint and show them it is now a useless piece of metal. They don't budge.

I explain the history of the lighter. They say too bad.

I politely argue with them for 10 minutes or so until they begin to get mad, along with all the people I'm holding up.

I go outside where the line to check baggage literally goes around the corner and out the door. I push to the front and explain the situation. The guy says "No lighters in checked baggage, can't you see the sign?"

I'm sure they're watching me becuase of the fuss that I made so I opt against trying to stash my Zippo in my carryon which I'm sure they'll search with a fine toothed comb like usual, and I really need to make the plane which is leaving soon. I keep the case and throw the mechanism in the trash and am about to cry.

I go back to the security line where there's a different guy there who says "Man, if I wasn't on my break I would have let you through for sure." Then they don't even check my bag!

At Sydney Airport, high powered slingshots.

They let me keep some chewing tobacco though.
