Is there actually a difference in what you pay to buy foreign currency at the bank versus at the airport? I am under the impression it will be more expensive, and would be better off going to the bank. Is this true or have I been misinformed?

I didn't keep track when I came but other posters have said
it's regulated by the government and the banks in the airport
charge the same rate as they do in their other branches.

You will definitely get a better rate than back home.

In Korea the Forex money changers at the airport are the banks and you get the same rates you get at the bank in town. The advantage to the airport is that you get your transaction done quickly, no stamps in your passport and you have many more foreign currencies to chose from.

This is NOT the case in most other countries where the airport money changers charge a premium for their service.

Do NOT take won out of the country. You will NOT get a good exchange rate for Korean currency from abroad. Change it here.

Exchange your money here. Quick and easy. The airport forex booths will have Indonesian Rupiahs.

Take a few hundred k-won as either US$ or EUROS as a backup as well.
You can readily exchange both down there as well and a couple $100's are easy to tuck away and don't take much space in your pocket.

Just remember that the airport foreign exchange booths are not 24/7. I arrived at the airport one time (Busan) and wanted to change money, only to find out that it was past regular business hours and they were closed.
