Good points. Actually I've had K-girlfriends and K-friends comment on my tendency to wear socks with sandals. I only do this when I'm out and about in public, because there's something with the rubber/leather against my feet which breeds pure evil. On the beach or around the hood I let my toes breathe. I definitely get more comments from the locals (as in my friends who have some sense of fashion) than random wae-guks when I prance around in my socks and sandals Surprised

With long pants I think it's easier to get away with socks and sandals.

I don't agree with Zappa, though. I think sandals, without socks, looks far cooler. The question is, though, is how cool it smells Laughing

Here's a question that I'd love to have answered.

At home, I'd kill the funky smell by using certain powders. Who has a good idea for killing the odor in leather sandals? Mine haven't taken on that rotting flesh scent quite yet, but it is rather humid here. . . .

Hmm...I put mine in the freezer...wash them with antibacterial soap. I get a good 45 minutes out of them in the humidity and heat before the demonspawn is born again between my flesh and the footwear. Socks are the only things that help, hence the strange post. Flip flops seem to be less offensive for some reason. Somebody needs to conduct a scientific study on this phenomenon. Shocked

Open toe shoes are open for a reason. If you want to wear socks with footwear buy runners.

Actually, I sometimes tuck my shirt into my underwear--just to be a rebel. Sox and sandals just isn't brave enough these days.

Bare feet are acceptable in restaurants here.

If your feet stink, your customary footwear is inappropriate.

I was once pretty embarrassed after a day walking with sandals sans socks. The group I was with were really turned off their restaurant meal by my rancid feet. I ended up washing them in the bathroom.

If I know I'm going to do a lot of walking then I will wear socks with sandals. Fashion be damned.

The low-cut socks aren't bad. It's not like you're wearing knee-highs Very Happy
