I don't know if this is an updated list of faculty, but judging from this list, it looks like the majority of the staff at CDI are gyopos from the U.S. and Canada. Interesting.
I also see lotsa degrees held by both gyopos and non-gyopos from Princeton, Harvard, Yale, Duke, Dartmouth, Brown, Cornell, Berkeley, UCLA, University of Toronto, McGill...
If CDI is such a crummy hagwon (as some of you claim), then why are these people with degrees from the some of the best universities in the world teaching at CDI? Regardless of whether you feel they are ripping off their teachers (and this is debatable, but let's not rehash that in this thread if it can be helped ), CDI must be doing something right to attract this caliber of teachers, no? Doesn't CDI have one of the best reputations among Korean parents in Seoul?

historically they only hired gyopos.
with expansion, these days they hire a huge percentage of foreigners.
usually it's mostly the gyopos that have graduated from upper-tier schools, so that's why you see so many on this list. plus the list is old and not updated. |

Oh, I haven't decided whether I'm going to apply to CDI. And even if I was offered a teaching position, I don't know if I'd necessarily take the job. I'm going to Seoul next month, and I was thinking that it might be a good idea to get my feet wet by teaching at a hagwon, and from what I've read and heard, CDI is one of the better respected hagwons, so I was simply wondering why some of you feel like it's such a horrible place to teach.
On a side note, I was just looking at the photos of the CDI staff on their website, and it's funny because even though I'm a gyopo and I know a ton of Korean people here in Los Angeles, I don't usually hang out with Koreans (because truth be told, I personally can't stand a lot of them), so I wonder how well I'd fit in with the other staff members if I were to work there. Hmm... |

If threads about CDI bother you, then why not just skip over them? You don't have to read them or respond to them, right? I don't get it. |

Take some time and use the search function like so MANY newbies fail to use in this forum. If you type in CDI, then you'll come up with 277 matches. We can't hold your hand in the job discussion forum forever. |

Again, if the CDI threads bother you, then just kindly skip over them. No big deal! |

I think he means that the information you're looking for is probably already in one of those threads. |

One must also remember the differences between E-2 and F-4/Gyopo..... One the company owns you, the other you are free to go when you choose.... Might be why there are so many Gyops and F-4 types working there...... |

About those degrees. Plenty of hogwans lie about the credentials of their teachers. They might Ivy League grads and they might have graduated from Upper Missippi Valley Technical State POlytenchic Western University. |

Its not about CDI but your inability to search things for yourself. |

She wont. Anyone that has tried to help her has been a target of her anger. Although I mist say her nickname is really well suited to her personality. |

With nothing better to do at the moment, I think I'm inclined to side with "Freaka" on the issue of starting a new thread on a topic that's been dealt with many times before.
Some advantages of starting your own thread include being able to fine-tune the topic and advertising precisely what you want to in the heading...
Many posters have also had problems using the search function - including myself till recently ... |
