His movies were fun. That's something that's lacking a lot in films nowadays. Today's films are all CG and shallow.
I used to love watching his shoot 'em up movies like Commando and Raw Deal where he shoots up the bad guys and tells one-liner jokes.
Total Recall was fun as a SF movie.
Arnold has always been looked down on as just a beefy guy on the screen, but no one's been able to do half the job he did.
New muscle guys like Vin Deisel suck. |

Man, I love Vin Diesel. Riddick is up there, and that triple X movie was the *beep* too (imo). I'd have to rank him as my favourite action guy around these days. Since Arnie's heart is full of roids I'm not sure what we can expect from him in the future, but I agree he was the best for his time. I grew up on his movies, and they are timeless classics that I will always watch. He is indeed the king. CROM!!!!! |

| Commando is awesome! 'Specially the first 15mins or so when the film depicts a day in the life of the big man and his special daughter. Lots of cheesy smiles, dashing scenery, and wholeheartedly healthy activities (hiking, swimming, reading, general fun father-and-daughter stuff - all in one morning too!) It sets the scene for the onset of rage unleashed when his daughter is kidnapped and he goes on a violent killing and injuring spree. Also contains one of the (for me) funniest one-liners in a film. Arnie, about to exit the plane having killed the bad guy sitting next to him, says to the air hostess "don't disturb my friend - he's dead tired." |

What was it like auditioning for that movie, anyway?

I liked some of his older ones and the first 2 Terminator movies. Wow, part 3 really sucked!!!!
Haven't seen it in probably over 15 years, but I recall liking -
The Running Man
Typical Arnie cheesie lines, but great concept. I like some of the early action movies with the cheesie lines and blow up all the badie type movies. They don't make movies like that much anymore - a good thing??????? |

How can you have Kindergarten cop as an option but not Running Man?
Running man is superb. Watch it back and I give you a money-back guarantee you will have forgotten how good it is. |

Scarface was a better script, IMHO.
Running Man was his best, though I already voted before thinking about it. Conan 2 was fun, if only because of seeing that crazy black woman's beaver and some incredibly, uh, stilted acting by Wilt Chamberlain.
Raw Deal was fun, at the time. |

| Hmmm...you might be right about the 'Scarface' script. I just Conan last night, though, and it was pretty damn funny. |

| Which is the best Arnie movie? This question reminds me of the movie "The Last Samurai", specifically, how one of the main characters spends his whole life looking for the perfect cherry blossom, only to realize, just before he dies, that "they are all perfect." Just like Arnold's movies. |

sorry about that, it is one behind the lead though!
incidentally, i watched 'pumping iron' the documentary, it was pretty amusing in places, the way arnie psyched out his opponents with this overbearing kindness bordering on hostility.
inspired me to do a few extra reps at the gym today as well |

| He's not given enough credit for his acting abilities. When he has the right director and script he makes movie magic. My favorite was "True Lies", but "Total Recall" was a great one, too. |
