Saw this headline on CBC News And I immediately thought the American Forces Network was asking Canada for money? I think I have been in this country tooo toooo long.

Good christ! And to think a few years ago the gov't was toying with the idea of doing away with CBC shortwave....

Less than 3% of the population, and they (er, the band chiefs) ask for and will likely get even more money...when will it ever make a difference?

It sucks...I'm all in favour of native self-government, and all we can do to help out the ailing Native culture/population...but how much more can realistically be done? I remember thinking during my schoolboy days that I'd give my left nut for a Native Status Card...I probably still would if I went back. I've got a Native great-grandfather...damn, just one generation removed from easy street...
