Are you concerned that you may out yourself one day accidentally or eventually? |
Yes, I'm paranoid. Whar's my LITHIUM? |

No, I'm ok with that and have already posted in "How Hawt are you?" thread. |

Only a little, I have a handle and an avatar not of my name and face, but who's being picky? |

No one uses their real name in their handle and not many people use their own faces for their avatar, but the Ex-pat community in Korea is small enough that we may all have run into each other some time, some place.
If I don't know you or know of you, I've probably smelled you (in close proximity somewhere, that is). If you take the subway around long enough, you will eventually meet most of the posters, though you may not have been aware of it.
I'm afraid that if I'm outed, I'll be known as a horn-dog idiot with only a mildly amusing sense of humor and a softer yet sense of prosy. I would start editing my posts with scribbles and develop a sock to return to the forum, if at all.
I've been here 15 years and I know some of the people on the "How Hawt are you?" thread or recognize them from passing them on the street. I could probably ask around and get to know the others, if I were to put my mind to it.
Is this a concern for you? Whar's my Lithium?!
What could you possibly have to hide? |

I'd like to meet some posters. When I'm out in town or when I met some old-timers in Osaka during my visa run I'm always trying to figure out whether or not the person posts on Dave's or not. I've been reading Dave's for about three years and would love to put some faces behind some of the avatars. .
Anyways, I don't care if you recognize me--I'm pretty easy to recognize actually--especially given the fact that I'm 5'11. I'm not shy about providing my photograph and real name because what I post here (as shallow as its been lately--mostly about men haha) is the truth and what I experience here. Including that I met Princess... haha |

Not really. See, I believe in accountability. Therefore, I do not hide behind the shroud of anonymity as many others do on this board. Furthermore, there is more credibility warranted when one can be held to his or her words.
Far too many times have I seen people on here spew nothing but bullshit out of their mouths. I can only say that it must be nice to 'hide' while flaming others. I've said it before and I'll say it again, if you have something to say and want people to believe you and deem you credible, then come out of hiding. Then again, this ideal situation is highly unlikely to happen.
On the flip side, I can understand why people hide on this board; they don't want some psycho stalking them nor do they want to jeopardize their families in any way. In this case, I say you shouldn't be playing with fire if you don't want to get burnt. Simply don't partake in heated discussions here on Dave's. |

I most definitely don't want people here to know my face or who I am. I have of course met a few of you guys and it's been real, but for the most part I like the anonymity so I try not to post too much personal information. Some of my views can be quite controversial and if I get drunk they will come out in polite company which has led to more than one heated conversation when you factor in booze. Here I can actually talk about those things without the need for alcohol. I can also just relax when communicating in general. Sounds sad right? Well I'm an introvert with more than a slight touch of social anxiety and only with my few close friends do I feel comfortable enough to talk.

People spot me all the time. In fact this weekend I was roped into doing a strip-tease in front of some female members of this site. I had to stop because I was crying though. |

Why were you crying? Did you feel violated? Do you need to bring up sexual assault charges |

It's actually part of the performance. Tears make it hotter. |

My opinions and my attitude here are the same as in real life, but I much prefer to be anonymous. I meet a foreigner once or sometimes twice a month, and that is plenty for me. |

i don't give out too much personal info on the board as far as identifying details go (i think, anyways), but i have met a fair number of people from the board, so i am out in that sense.
i'm not really any different online than i am in person. well, actually, i'm waaaay hotter in person. haha! but as far as my personality and all that goes, i don't bother to make shit up. i don't see the point.
when i was on the old board, i was very cautious about being identified, mainly due to a creepy dave's stalker problem i had. i was still very much myself, i just didn't give away any clues as to where i lived, what i looked like, where i hung out, all that stuff. despite that, i was at the bar one night, and this dude (who had been sitting at the same table as me) approached me, and asked if i was xxx on dave's esl. of course i was.
my sparkling personality shone right through...

While the vast majority of the users here, while frequently cranky, are still sane, there's a small number who are not. And they will do anything to get back at you.
Long story short: Stay anonymous. |
