Yes, I like country music, and I haven't come across any bars /performance-dance halls in the Seoul area. Can anybody help???

If nothing else, maybe there's a place that has open mic night??

Thanks in advance!

That's something you never see here, not even an ironic alt-country scene.

Your best bet is open mic nights. Good on you if you can perform. Sorry I don't know any open mic places to recommend.

i know two fantastic c&w bars (yes i like country music too). the grand ole opry in itaewon is great, there's a really good dance floor where you can practice your line dancing (as i have), yummy and cheap jello shooters, and they take requests. don't know about open mic though. it's up on hooker hill.
in songtan, near the osan air base, there's another place called wes's place. again, good dance floor, line dancing, excellent bar selection and requests. wes's also has foosball and a couple of pool tables.
i highly recommend both places.

I heartily second RSS's recommendations for Grand Ole Opry and Wes's Place. Great drinking, dancing and people-watching on weekends. Also interesting to note subtle and not-so-subtle differences in the crowds -- G.O.O. obviously catering to Army/expats while Wes's is definitely an Air Force place.

From what I heard, both joints regularly featured live music a few years back when country music was more in favor in the military/expat community -- so you are more than welcome to try and start a band. I can PM you Wes's contacts if you want.

i would like to mention that i wouldn't know about either of these gems if it weren't for the guidance and line-dancing prowess of one parisny.
on a more personal note, parisny, yay! you're back! i want to hear all the details of your trip. did you get new cowboy boots by any chance?
