Hi there,
I am coming over to work in August and am wondering if there are any shops similar to the 100 yen kingdoms we have here in Tokyo.
Such a cheap way to buy pretty much any basic item for your apartment.
Or some similar kind of shop?
Thanks.

Yeah. Some Japanese chain. Items cost between 1,000 and 3,000 won. Forget the name, though. |

It's called "Daiso" and it rocks. There is definitely one in Wangshimni station. Not sure about other locations, but there are quite a few. |

Great! That is the best of the 100 yen places here. Makes spending money even better, so long as you don't get laden down with things you will never use |

You mean like the 100 meter tape measure or the two laser pointers I bought? |

The equivalent of 100 yen shops here aren't as cheap as the ones in Japan though. |

You can often find them in subway stations. Sadang has two. Gangnam has one. |

Yeah, maybe 100 yen is 1300 won? In the U.K. we have pound shops, about 210 yen but you can still get bargains when comparing the prices to regular shops.
Can't wait to get there and start shopping! Heheheh |

They're called "1000 won" shops, under various names. |

Yup. Daiso does indeed rock. If you live in Shinchon, there is one across the street (sort of) from Hyundai dept. store. Go out exit 1 of the subway station, walk past Hyundai until you get to the cross walk, cross the street and turn right. It is right there. |

I have to admit that with my current budget, most of my apartment is being furnished by the 1,000 won store . . . |
