Enlighten us a bit. Yup, it's a variation of another thread...first one was about Korea. Wink

I'm an American, so I could fill a whole book with these if I had the time. LOL Anyway, maybe I'll try a few...

1. Americans don't need to learn a foreign language because almost everyone in the world can speak English

2. America is a democracy. (It's not, it's a republic)

3. The American Civil War was fought to free enslaved people.

4. If given the chance, almost anyone in the world would want to move to the USA, so we have to tightly control our borders to keep everyone from overpopulating the country.

5. X country would be Soooo screwed if it weren't for our interference at X time in the past.

1. It's the greatest country in the history of the world.

2. (sometimes quite seriously from serious ppl): we are the fulfillment of the evolution of society :roflmao

3. American food is best, that's why mcdonald's is everywhere

Anytime an American calls another American "Unamerican" for saying something against the first person's views. If anything, it's the namecaller who is unamerican for not respecting the right of the seond person's free speech.

This is a bit different, but we Americans refer to black/African people around the world as African-Americans. Even those that were born and live in Europe.

- We're loved all around the world! Put a Canadian flag on your backpack and people will beg you to marry their daughters!

- We're intelligent! Not like Americans.

- We're very in tune with the environment. Not like Americans.

- We're polite. Not like Americans.

- We know geography! Not like Americans.

- The Avro Arrow was the greatest plane ever made and those dirty Americans stole our dream from us!

I think its b/c of this hyped up PC crap that everyone is pushing these days. So, when yo uask about someone's race, its no longer OK to say Black, you ahve to say African american. But I'm described as white, so why can't they be black? Anyway, calling blacks simply American doesn't cut it when you trying to distinguish race.

I hate PC.
