It's almost time for the Canada Day BBQ hosted by the Candian Chamber of Commerce.

It's July 1st, Canada Day. I went last year and it was good. They had;

a Canadian band playing rock music all day

a raffle for a round trip ticket to Vancouver

games including tug-of-war between eastern Canada VS western Canada.
Western Canada won last year.

Free snacks like Burger King Chicken tenders, Dole fruit cups and bananas

Molson Candian beer.

If you're looking for something to do that weekend, then you should go. Invite your Korean friends to introduce them to Canadian culture.

and yes, other foreigners are welcome too. Met some Irish at the party last year.

You need to pre-register here http://www.ccck.org/canadaday/registration.htm

See you!

I went one year and had a not so bad time. The whole thing shut down at 6pm though, so not a real party atmosphere. Yes Cdn beer, but the prices were also high. I would reccomend going to RMT or something like that.

Went once in '01 with a good group of friends, but it was a very cliquey atmosphere--as I've come to expect whenever I see foreigners in Seoul--nobody would give you the time of day. Solidarity indeed!

Haha. I've been meaning to get to it for the past 3 years, but honestly haven't heard anyone having a great time. Seems overpriced anyways. It'd be much better to just hangout at a pojangmacha with a few friends, food, and makkeolli.

I had the opposite experience last year.
I went alone hoping to make some new friends.
A gang of fellow Canadians saw me walking around alone and asked me to join them.
Had a good time.
Very relaxed atmosphere. Nice people.

i'm going, and i'm bringing a small contingent of mostly non-canadian people. we're not buying the food there though, it's just too expensive with the cover as well. we're gonna do potluck bbq, save some cash and eat our own damn food.
i tried to book camping spots for the night before, but the campground is booked solid. maybe we'll just pitch the tent next to the river and pray that we don't get eaten by 괴물.

So you need a credit card to attend a Canadian Day event. I guess this pisses me off. Sad

Who says you need a credit card? You can pay through a bank transfer.

I'd go if I lived in Seoul (right, like that's ever going to happen). It would suck so bad going there and not drinking because I have to drive back home.
