Hey all,
I play for the Gwangju (Jeolla) foreigner football/soccer team and we're looking to schedule friendlies with any other teams out there. Unfortunately there seems to be massive difficulties in joining a Korean league down here so we rely on city-wide tourneys to get our fill of semi-competitive football.
So far we've played Geckos and teams from Suwon and Ulsan and Cheongju this year (home and/or away) It's always a good time, with meat and soju the night before, then a match the next day sometimes followed by a bbq in the sun. We'd also be willing to travel to your home turf to duke it out on the pitch!
If you have ANY information about your local footy team from wherever you are in Korea, it would be appreciated if you could pass this info on to them or pm me. You can also send an email to the team account.

www.lokomotiv-goyang.com - team email is [email protected] - we play in the SSFL.
Check out the website or send us an email for any info.
We'd appreciate the odd game against new teams now and again,
cheers.

Sweet, we'll see if something can be arranged. Thanks.

C'mon... any other takers out there fed up of playing Korean teams with Korean refs?

Read the original post, they said they played the tigers already. BTW, how is Cheongju treating you? A mutual friend told me you are down here now.

Grass? No grass in Gwangju except on the World Cup pitch. It's either dirt or astro-turf. But I can guarantee that the dirt in Gwangju is of the utmost quality. However if we know we have a team coming down, then we'll definitely book a decent turf pitch for the afternoon.

Thanks for all the replies. I'm just trying to make contacts, even if nothing works out for the moment. We've been around for a while (I believe the team was started in 2001) but haven't really been networking till last summer.

Last bump.

Looking for anyone who may have even a contact for someone who may know someone who knows someone who... ah, bloody hell.

Anyone from Mokpo? Busan? Jeonju? Changwon? Insert random Korean city?

Anyways, thanks again for the replies so far! We're looking to head up a 4 or 6 team tourney later on in the summer down here, complete with trophys, kegs, food and piss poor football. I'll get in touch with all those who expressed any interest.

Piss poor football...before or after the kegs? I remember at university we used to have tourneys where each player "had" to be drunk just before match to play. Ahh, what fantastic fuzzy mem'rees.

Ehh... a little bit of column A, a little bit of column B.

Your uni tourneys sound like softball. Specifically that Simpsons bit a poster made reference to recently.
