Kind of a random question-is it ok to use tap water for smoking hookah or should I get purified? I know I'm not drinking it or anything, but the smoke does absorb it. |

Tap water in Seoul is safe to drink. I don't drink it, but it is safe. It would be fine to smoke with it, but purified or spring is always better. |

You actually think the water is more dangerous than the tobacco (or whatever) that you're smoking?
If you're worried, just shell out the 1000 won for a bottle of water. |

Shisha is still tobacco. I'm about 99.99999% sure that the shisha you smoke is worse than the tap water in your hookah. |

I prefer tobacco and flavor to arsenic, mercury and hormones in the water (though the hormone issue isn't as big here as in nations who use female hormonal birth control). |

I don't know where you can buy a hookah, but you can smoke one in B1. Turn right up the first alley on the KFC side of Hamilton Hotel, Itaewon. B1 is on the left.
Why would you think smoking a hookah makes you a 'pillow biter'? Grow up. |

You'd be fine using tap water in a hookah, but the water works best in a tube when it's cold...which tap water isn't. There are a couple sweet hookah bars in Hongdae, including Bricxx and Nabi. |

Gr8 in Hongdae (above Ska) has the best hookah selection and great wine prices
Nearby is Bricxx which is bigger and has Red Rock on tap. There is also a Bricxx in Itaewon. If you followed shantaram's instructions to B1, take your next left, Bricxx is on the left.
Around the corner from Bricxx and under the Road Hous (I think that's the name) is Nabi, they have hookah, but no table service.
Rainbow in Gangnam has great atmosphere and hookahs.
You can also find hookERs in Itaewon and Yongsan.
Yes, hookah smokers are pillow biters, cigarette smokers give rim jobs, people who drink alcohol are pedophiles, people who play soccer have an S and M fetish and people who teach in Korea have AIDS. All of them. |

I bought mine from an ebay store.
You can get really nice ones with everything you need, up to 6 boxes of shisha for as little as [US]$30 if you just want a short, one-hose deal. 2 or 3 hoses go up to and beyond $100. The shipping is expensive since most stores only use priority, so you'll be paying around $50, but it will arrive quickly and in one piece. |

~Directions to buy a hookah~ Go to Itaewon Station and head towards the Catholic Church. Hit a right down the street by the fire station (you'll have to cross the street first to get to it). It will be going uphill pretty steeply. You'll turn left at the first street to the left I believe. If you see a bunch of guys wearing middle eastern clothing, coming from that street, then you're going the right way. As you walk up the street, start looking for Arab grocery stores. The is one that will be on the left side that has about 3 or 4 hookahs in the window. They really aren't great looking and I can't vouch for their quality, but they are there. They also sell tobacco there. I don't know what all they have because the guy keeps it behind the counter, but its there as well. I know they have nahkla double apple.
There might be other stores that sell tobacco there and if so, please PM me to let me know, especially if they have a good selection.
Basically, the place is close to the mosque-where there's Arabs, there's hookah! |
