Has anybody ever used Jazz Chants and found them successful?

Apparently I have 4M Won from the library fund to blow on books.

Was planning on two levels of text books maybe interchange but I would really like Adventures but it's British English

Jazz chants is on the list but i've never used it.

If you go for Jazz Chants, I'd go for Small Talk. Really communicative and useful language....

They work but you have to have a system by which you use them, to be successful. As with any book, make sure there is listening apart from the book and production apart from the book also. Otherwise it is just a passive reading exercise and not whole language.

I used to use it by pausing the tape after each line and either asking a repeated question or having a group ask the repeated questions. Students then repeat the taped part. Or they are easily set up for choral echo chants or A/B where each group does one part.

If you get really creative, get them to change the words and do a Weird Al version....give them some modeling and guidance for this though.

But yeah, not bad -- even though if you use them a lot, you'll quickly become nauseaus at the mere thought of her voice..........
