chairs? They didn't need chairs. It was a telekinetic superpowered tae-kwon-do extravaganza! But all the electronic devices that tried to record the event only show static and occasional flashes of light.

I'm Buddhist, but this was shameful. I'm reminded of this everytime I see a monk with a cell-phone, wearing Nike shoes, or driving an Equus.

What does violence have to do with wearing shoes?

Buddhists are not supposed to be attached to material things, such as cars, money, etc. It's one of the most basic things (The Four Noble Truths).

This riot was basically a power struggle between factions who wanted to take over the temple, and thus control its money.

http://www.cnn.com/WORLD/asiapcf/9812/23/korea.monks/

Quote:
Money at heart of dispute

Many religion experts agree that power and money are at the center of the struggle.

The victorious faction gets to control an annual budget of $10 million, millions of dollars in property and appoint 1,700 monks to various duties. In the past, those on the losing side were accused of corruption and deprived of their status as monks.

Also have you ever wondered why we still eat apples if its so damn forbidden?
