I'm going to be back in the States for my vacation next month and I was wondering if my Korean license is valid while I'm there visiting. Otherwise, my last American license was suspended but that suspension time is up. I don't have the physical card cuz I traded it for the Korean license. Am I still a valid driver in the States or once a suspension is over do you have to renew?

From what they tell me you can show your plane ticket to the DLA
office where you turned in your US license and get it back.

Whether your US license is still suspended or expired is something you
need to ask the DMV for your state.

You should be able to get in international driver's license/permit to use with your Korean license.

If you are a US National...no. Wait, unless you are a Korean national...no. What I understand the law to be (based on <sometimes> hearsay from my international students and told by our university international advisor) is that only tourists are allowed to use their national DL whilst on holiday. However, once they turn their tourist visa into a student visa the DL is no longer valid.

The same, I believe, is true for foreign nationals in SK.

Can't you renew online and have it sent to a trusted person's house in the area to which you will arrive?

WHY?

Doubtful...double check with your State license bureau. Why not renew? It's easy.

You seem to be talking about using an international permit with a non-Korean license to drive in Korea. The OP is talking about driving
in the US with a Korean license. I believe he can use an international
license issued by the Korean DLA to drive in the US.

Not all states allow on-line renewals. It will depend on his state. Renewal is not easy for me. I will be flying to where my family now lives which is not near where I was issued my license.
