We are all supposedly drunken womanzing skanks. But, have you ever known a Korean man who hasn't, at one point or another, insisted on taking you to a Business Club?**

** In 5 years I would say about 80% of Korean men I've "known" have done this. Probably just a fluke. I don't really assume ALL Korean men have this need to go to business clubs

Got to love the pseudo-morality and hypocrisy. Many people suffer from the delusion that somehow they are better.

Here's the rules of the world, from governments all the way down to the lowliest person:

It's not bad when we do it.

So if you're ever wondering why people act the way they do, remember that it's ingrained.

this so depends on what circles you socialize in.

as there is no one common experience here in Korea, there is no one common personality or character of korean men and women.

When I tell a korean male I'm married, his first question is How many girlfriends do you have. I say I don't cheat on my wife. Their response is real man has girlfriend on side.
Got to love this country, they do what they want. Then put all the blame on us. Rolling Eyes

I've never seen a prostitute, never intend to. But I honestly wasn't ANTI-prostitution until I saw what having prostitution in every neighborhood does to a country and a culture. I'm sure the negative impact prostitution has on women all over the world could fill a book.

What's most galling for me on a personal level is the many Korean men I've met who tell me that prostitution primarily exists to meet foreign demand. That's right--- we foreign men are seeing a legion of prostitutes that probably outnumber us 2 to 1, in spite of the fact that we can get laid for free at the Hongdae clubs.

Literally correct, but there is a norm, and then those that deviate from the norm in various ways. In Korea the group that conforms to the norm constitutes a significantly higher proportion of the population than in the west because of the strong value placed on fitting into the group.

I see you trying to suggest that the reports in this thread are due to the fact that the posters are lo class and are attracting lo class Koreans. The fact is that it is much more likely to be you that is attracting non conformist Koreans, and the posters here are meeting normative Koreans.

i appreciate your point of view (and know it well, i believe?). i hope you understand that i'm not talking about class as in income bracket or one's heritage, but rather as a standard of behavior.

simply, likes attract.
