My only comments on MM2's list:

Hugs are pretty much always welcome and should be just given, not offered but:

Quote:
8. How do you feel when I do this?
Shocked

Just a guess, but maybe you should ask about whatever "this" is before you do it .

With a couple of minor tweaks I think men would be pretty happy to hear most of those comments too, am I wrong?

Men like skinny women, true.

Never have I once heard a man say something along the lines of "Oh, you should have seen this girl, man! She was so skinny! Fwoooooaaar!!! I could see her ribs sticking out and everything!! She probably hadn't had a decent meal in ages, bro!!! Nuthin' but skin and bone! Kooorrr, drove me wild!"

I like when my GF tells me I introduce her to new things. I like to hear I'm handsome or cute. I like when she cooks up things to do together. I like when my GF likes my taste in ties. I like to hear I'm intelligent/creative. I like to hear that she values in my the things I value in myself. I like when she laughs at my jokes. I like to hear things that imply she's also independent from me. I don't like to think a woman loves me because she needs the material things I can provide. I don't want to be a woman's only hope. I want to be loved because she simply loves me.

Things guys don't ever want to hear from a woman:

1. I'm leaving you, I've met this woman and I'm in love with her.

2. I don't really like sex.

3. Sometimes it's not what you hear from a woman, but what you don't hear--The Silent Treatment!

4. You're a really nice guy, but.....

More things men don't want to hear from a woman:

You woke me up for THAT?

On second thought, let's turn out the lights.

When you are inside me, I feel nothing.

You need a lawyer.

Someones got to say it. The four most terrifying words for any man are

" Is it in yet"

And yes that has been said to me, even though I'm pretty much on average. Depressing stuff.

By the way, took me 30 seconds to read your post and decide you were wrong 10 times. Probably took you at least 5 seconds more than that to type it, right? That means I win.

You are a slow typer, sweetie. That means I win! Wink

I've always contended that since women so rarely tell us men what they like about us, preferring instead to list their dislikes, we have to make it up ourselves. So we assume you like what we like about ourselves: our John Thomas and our car.

10 Things I think a woman you're in a serious relationship with wants to hear

1. I love you.

2. You are beautiful.

3. (Random compliment about some accessory she's wearing that men don't typically notice) Wow, that's an interesting necklace. Where did you get it? (Also noticing when she's bought some new piece of clothing. Even better if she bought the piece of clothing when you were with her and you mention it.) Hey, that's the skirt you bought last month before the movie. I was waiting to see you wear it.

4. You know, I think you're right. Let's do it that way.

5. Hun, I picked you up a little something yesterday. I'll give it to you at lunch. No I won't tell you what it is. It's a surprise!

6. I was out today and I noticed this great new restaurant I think you'd like.

7. (Asking her interesting questions about her current hobby.)

8. How do you feel when I do this?

9. You know, you always just seem to know the right thing to wear. Help me pick out a nice tie for the musical we're going to next weekend.

10. (When something crappy or anxiety provoking happens, don't try to rationalize with her that her fears or emotions are pointless/groundless. She knows that already and that only makes it suck more.) "Wow, hun, that really sucks. I'm sorry. Let's hug."

Oh yeah and always note when your GF gets a new haircut. If you hate it, never say "it looks nice". Everyone knows that's code for you don't like it. My strategy is saying neutral things that sound complimentary. "Wow, your new haircut looks really fresh." Or obscure references "Wow, it's very Emma Thompson from Howard's End."

What you got, Big Bird?

mm2, this deserves a separate thread. I would LOVE to hear a woman dispute any of your 10 comments. Actually, if my dad had handed me that on a sheet of paper when I was 19, and said, "That's pretty much all you need," I think a LOT of things would have turned out different. By different, I mean better, of course.

Cool

I hate to say this but I actually agree with this. I think MM2 actually hit the nail on the head with number 10. There are times when we girls DO want to work out/soud out our problems with our men but both myself and many of my girlfriends agree that when we rant we just want a sympathetic ear and a hug to make us feel that despite all the crapness everything is going to be ok. It actually drives a girl crazy when the other half try to rationalize!

I personally would prefer that to "I've met a magnificent man who is much better than you in every way. Sorry chump, we're through."

If she leaves me for a woman, well, how can I compete with that? She wants something she can't get from me, or presumably, from any man. If she leaves me for another man, it'd make me feel inferior.

Also, maybe I'd get to join in with her and her new sweetie. Surprised

Actually, I wouldn't mind the "I've met a woman" deal. It would be very interesing and provide a great converstation piece.

The best way to deal with rejection is to never really fall in love with a woman.

No woman ever "saves" a guy. Rolling Eyes Laughing Once they see you need them you get dropped like a watermelon onto concrete from a 10 storey building.
