I read what you said. I understand your assertions. But then we moved on. Conversations sometimes evolve, Bobster.

In any case, is that what you wanted? To return to this? I have heard and understood your views on this. You think Nixon, who wrote books and stayed low-profile, I believe, in retirement, was the worst president in American history and that this refutes Mcgarrett's OP. You also point out that since about the mid-1980s, Jimmy Carter has raised funds for, and spent about a week every year actually working for, Habitat for Humanity, in addition to keeping a hand in politics, at least indirectly, and that this makes him a better man than Nixon.

Anything else besides this and your smoking-gun that we have no evidence to suggest that, as DCI, H.W. Bush did not instruct Agency personnel not to torture anyone?

Nixon as the worst president ever? Not Harding? If the media had been as demanding in Harding's day as it was in Nixon's, Harding could have done as much damage to the presidency in two years as Nixon did in 5, without any of Nixon's major legislative accomplishments.

The worst president in US history was JFK. He had to get himslef killed so Lyndon Johnson could get his programs through Congress. Jimmy Carter was a very good man and a lousy preisdent.

Nixon was bright, very bright, and did some pretty dood things. But he was dreadfully flawed and paranoid as hell.

Clinton did a fair but let his presidency become a joke about little blue dresses, flavoured cigars and zippers.

Ronney Reagan won the cold war.
