Here is an interesting article about it: A FAQ on what the iPhone has and what it lacks
After reading it and from what I already heard/knew about it, I'm not convinced that it's gonna be that great. Yes, the publicity around it is great. Apple has done a wonderful job about that, but I'm not sure their iPhone is really up to it. At least, not yet. |

I've been reading about an article a day on it and the consensus seems to be that despite not having a few of the more standard features (still using EDGE, for example) it performs amazingly well. I'm going to see about getting my girlfriend one for her birthday in September. Hopefully by then they've made some nice upgrades.

Yeah, a lot of people have been complaining that it doesn't support 3G (this is 2007 WTF!!!).
Some advice for the curious, wait and watch for better alternatives to pop up. This is what we use Apple for

Like I said before and I'll say it again. Look out for the Gen2 iPhone.
Then watch out for the iPhone Mini, iPhone Nano. Maybe even the iPhone Shuffle. It'll randomly dial a number in your phone book when you push talk. |

Who cares about Gen2 iPhone?
It'll be the same thing, with a bigger hard drive and unlocked features that were suppose to run on Gen1! |

I think it'll be more than that. Because of digital convergence, people are not going to carry around a cell phone, mp3 player, and pda. They are gonna want an all in one device.
Apple knows that their iPods are in jeopardy. If people had to choose between giving up an MP3 player or a cell phone, they will choose the MP3 player. |

iPhone is simply the coolest device out there - by a mile- but even so I won't be trashing my 30 gig iPod video anytime soon. If I were buying a phone now iPhone would easily top the list tho'. Too bad it's only available in the US at the moment. Second choice, a Nokia N Series, also very cool and functional.
Samsung, start your photocopiers. Oh wait, you already did with the Motorola Razr. |

Sony-Ericsson make some nice phones, but sorry, they simply can't touch Apple's offering. Have a link to the model you own so I could make a better comparison? |

Yeah....uh, ok. You mean for example, the OS? I just hope the iPhone doesn't have an LG battery, after the recall fiascos of the past couple of years.
Remember folks, no-one should ever accuse Korean companies of ripping off Western and Japanese technology/designs/pop songs or anything else. Originality makes Korea the Hub of Asia, dontcha know. |

I keep hearing the LG phone is crap.
If Apple can do LG better than LG, I'm willing to buy it. |

Fat woman buys her way to the front of the line, thinks she's going to buy out the store and then flip them on ebay, finds out it's one per customer, kid who was #1 in line basically got his phone for free.
And they're not selling for much over list price on ebay. |

If he's talking about the Prada phone, uh, no. LG were simply copying Nokia's all touch-screen cellphone technology (such as the Aeon http://www.blackberrytoday.com/articles/2006/10/2006-10-9-Nokia-Aeon-All.html) which was developed at least a year before the LG copy was released for public sale - making a joke out of LGs claims as developing the "world's first touch-screen phone". It's obvious from the 'quality' that LG didn't spend much R&D time on it but iPhone had been in development since at least 2005.
Misses the point anyway, the LG/Prada is just years behind iPhone. Have you seen the (*cough*) software it runs? Saaaaad. |
