I use GOM for vids, and love it.

For music, I am using Creative MediaSource and am not really satisfied..

Any suggestions? What do you use to play music?

I'm currently using Jetaudio, but I don't exactly listen to loads of music from my PC.

IMO, in terms of getting the best sound then your headphones/speakers are much more important for music. Next most important factor would be a decent motherboard or soundcard.

Last in importance would be the software used. Most media players out there would output a signal to your audio hardware in an almost identical way.

Most important, in digital music, is the original file you are playing from.

Try KM Player, it offers a little more than GOM (although I use GOM more). KM Player uses the Haali renderer which plays back HD stuff pretty smoothly.

Ah for music, I use Windows Media Player 11.

i prefer GOM for both audio and video
it has this excellent capability of easily finding necessary missing codecs and install them in a jiffy

the equalizer is also pretty good... and the controls are sleek...

i m of the opinion that it gives better sound than VLC, though the sound mainly depends on soundcard, headphones, and original file

Agreed, VLC is excellent.

For music, iTunes or for big display video, Apple TV.

I recently downloaded the latest version of Jetaudio, and am very pleased with it. I like the interface, and, despite the name, it plays all the video files that I could only previously play with vlc. It's loaded with features too. Two fat thumbs up! Smile

i use foobar2k for my audio needs. the vanilla install is not very useful, but it's very customizable. i don't recommend it for people who just wants something that works, but if you like hacking around under the hood, i think you'll love it.

i've used quintessential player in the past and that was pretty nice.

for media players, i use a mix of Media Player Classic, Zoom Player, VLC and mplayer. my limited use of GOM player has left me with quite a favorable impression though.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I'm not especially concerned with sound quality or codecs but rather a program that will help me organize my music. Right now it (my music)
is spread among 3 hard-drives and I am lazy and don't like going through the whole song and dance of jumping between hd's to find the album I want.

I've heard of a program called mediamonkey that is supposed to do a good job of organizing music.
