For the expert public school teachers...

I was under the impression that anything over 22 hours per week would be considered overtime in public schools... at least with EPIK and SMOE.

I'm looking into working the public school system in Daegu. This position requires 25 hours per week as well as the possibility of English camps "if neccessary".

Any thoughts?

I have heard of some at 22 and some at 25 ... depending on the contract. Mine in Gyeonggi is 22, I am not sure about SMOE or EPIK.

22 teaching hours, I'm guessing?

How long do your classes last? According to this contract, the set hours are 9:30- 2:30 and 4:30 - 6:30.

In Gim hae the contract says 25. I don't know about Daegu, but I guess it must be a similar contract to ours.

22 is standard, over that is overtime. But if your contract says 25, it's 25.

I work 24 hours but I get paid extra for 4 of the classes that I teach. I think I get about 30,000 each per class for 2 of the xtra classes that I teach in the afternoons. And I get 200,000 a month for two extra teacher classes that I do.

This doesnt sound like a public school at all.. split shift? until 6:30 at night? EPIK is well my school 8:50 to 4:50 now 25 hours but new contract that EPIK put out is changing to 22.

I would ask if they are with EPIK and if they are using the new contract.

With GEPIK it's 22 hours /week, 50-minute classes, 8:30-4:30 M-F.

That's maximum hours, in my case it's 18 hours / week.
