of gold fillings is what I'm gonna have if I listen to my dentist. I have to get a bunch of fillings replaced (developing decay) and he wants to use gold . They're on molars so resin isn't really an option. While I understand that they are stronger and longer lasting than amalgram fillings, I can't get the image of people with gold caps on their teeth out of my mind. I know, not the same thing. The silver's not so pretty either. So which is uglier?

Which is uglier and more poisonous? Amalgams... Take the gold, if you are willing to or can pay the high monetary cost.

My amalgams have held up for 12 years now and I am wondering what I am going to do for my next expensive fix. Gold ones? Hopefully I can go another 10 years and actually have dental benefits and lots of money banked as to be protected from crisis and other problems poverty presents. Poverty sucks and I want out where dental and health care costs are not an issue. Oh, what is the solution in an age where the super rich fly to keep prices high while many others struggle badly to survive? I dunno, but I sure hope there is a break coming my way for the latter part of my life. Same for you.

A couple of dentists in Korea have "advised" me to have my amalgams stripped and replaced with gold or porcelain. Coincidentally they were both new practices with state of the art equipment and lovely nurses.

Before you fall for the BS get a second, and third opinion.

Avoid the older dentists (the people) because they operate in pain-warp, and the ones I described above.

Don't get suckered.

Of course amalgam is not only uglier but unhealthier as gold.

I didn't know that resin fillings are a choice. If you are really unhappy with gold fillings/crowns, get some ceramics. They are almost just as strong but blend in with your natural teeth and only cost a little more.

My answer to most of life's questions is: If it makes you happier, then choose the costlier option if you can afford it.

I had a big molar filling done recently. The quote for gold was 250K while ceramics were 300K, 50K in difference just to have a matching set of teeth is worth every won.
