Ah, how convenient: if you appropriate a racial slur it's o.k. to use it on whim. How very unwittingly PC of you. For someone who once had a black boyfriend, you seemed to have miss the fact that sometimes blacks do NOT use the word nig-er as a term of endearment. It can be used as a put-down, too. And so what if cartoons during the war caricatured the Japanese? That's the least they deserved at the time.

I'm not saying that a slur is magically no longer hateful when used in a hateful manner just because a culture has taken it as their own. It's still as prone to abuse as ever. But let's face it, a word is only as offensive as people let it be. If nobody on the face of the planet was offended by the n-word, it wouldn't be a slur anymore. |

Yep, I am all about the cats too but dogs need love too. Women are more internal. I know I am going to catch some flack for this but in countries where women hold NO power it seems the men spend alot of time worrying about strapping bombs to themselves and dying so they can spend their eternity with a bunch of virgin girls. They need a balance and when the balance is too one sided there will be trouble a brewin!
Racist: Um...no I try very hard to dislike people on an individual basis and the stay the f*** away from them cuz they um....suck. Being Hispanic I have pigeonholed from day one. Fought the stereotypes and don't judge people by what they look like....well except clowns...man they are scary.

Uh, o.k. In the racial context at hand, I refuse to call all blacks African Americans simply because SOME blacks expect it. I have no way of knowing which do and besides they and the liberal media don't insist on calling whites European Americans. How often have you seen white used with African American in the same sentence? So I continue to say "black," which gives no offense to most older blacks and is a matter of utter indifference to most young blacks. Those educated into the PC culture in college, however, are another matter.
On the other hand, I'm not going to feel entitled to call them jigaboos, spooks, coons, or porch monkeys either.

This goes back a couple pages, but I can't be bothered to go back and quote it, so sorry...
But I have always been quite argumentative about reverse discrimination and all that. I know most people find it stupid, cause they tend just to write me off as a WASP (which is mostly true) but I hate that white people aren't allowed to do shit... especially the white people that were raised with ANY money whatsoever. (and I carry this sentiment over to this whole anti-man feminist thing, too... I'm all about equality for women, seing as how I am one, but not at the expense of men's rights...)
Take that movie "White Chicks," for example. I refuse to pay to watch it, not because I'm necessarily offended, but because no white guy would EVER be able to make a similar movie entitled, "Black Chicks," and be that incredibly racist about it all. Geez, the NAACP would be over that in a second. Sooo... where the hell is the NAAWP (North American Assoc. of White People, or whatever)? Yeah, like that would EVER be "allowed" to exist. It would be written up as the next KKK.
My main point is this: we have ALL been discriminated against at some point. Yes, the whole black slavery thing sucked, and I'm not trying to take away from that. But, hey, my family is Scottish, and we were fucked by the Brits, and before that raped by Vikings, and (way back when) possibly enslaved by Egyptians... so get over it, and do something with whatever opportunity you are given. Yes, your situation in life may be less than ideal, but what are YOU going to do about it, you know?
That being said, I don't consider myself racist... although I do wish that people would stop propagating their races' stereotypes so that they (the stereotypes) could disappear more easily. |

| TBH does it matter if u r racist or not? As long as u don't use violence to voice or impede u r belief it does not matter to hell to me. I like to think that human beings no matter who what where when have more in common with each other than difference but at the same time we have all had our invidual experiences and this shapes our own indivudal unique opinions. but none the less we all are physcically the same, and unless there genitically modified person out there we have all come from the bellies of a woman and been inseminated by a male. so we are the same but different. if u r racist it not that u have hate but rather u fear something or u feel something inadequate is going on in u r society, i.e. immigration or the big L word (liberalim) but hey through out time there has been immigration. fear will never win against progress and love! |
