so i'm planning on bringing my workout dvd's with me and trying to work out at home. I was wondering if the neighbors would freak out if they heard me jumping around for 30min every day?

Are you planning to skip rope or something like that? Walls in Korean apartments are paper-thin (You'll be pleased to know that you'll be likely to hear your neighbors' bodily functions in the adjoining bathroom.). The neighbors downstairs may not be appreciative.

If I were you, I would try things like low-impact jumping jacks (where you don't actually jump, always keeping one foot on the floor, moving from side-to-side).

I'm assuming that you don't know too many details about your home-to-be.

If you were jumping rope I would probably complain, were I a neighbor. Something like that ought to be done on the roof, or in a park, or somewhere like that. If it's an ordinary aerobics tape you should be okay, provided you do it at a reasonable time of day. Korea is loud, and Koreans make a lot of noise, but they would be less sympathetic to a foreigner doing the same.

I know little kids who aren't allowed to play ball and jump in their apartment because the neighbours downstairs complain. I think it's awful.

Most people go outdoors to skip rope. You can still do yoga/pilates/weights in your apartment though.

Yeah, i can hear the little freaking rubber ball that the kid upstairs likes to throw around every day for hours.

Workout to your hearts content, until the bang on the ceiling a few times.

I like to work out in my apartment, too. However, instead of asking, "Will my neighbors complain?" perhaps you should be asking yourself, "Am I being considerate to my neighbors?"

Wait and see what your apartment is like. I lucked out - I'm living in an officetel building with thick concrete walls. The person in the apartment right next to me blasts hip hop music at all hours of the night, and even with the loud bass I can only hear it if I go out into the hall.

But I agree with many of the other posters - in the majority of apartments I've been in, you really can hear everything. If it's low-impact cardio, you might be okay. If it's high-impact, just go out for a jog or something.
