I dont want to be bringing too much stuff with me to korea so I was wondering are pc components cheap.
Ill be living near seoul.
Or even a laptop. Is the pricing cheaper than Ireland/Uk.
Or what do they compare to US prices, as I have heard pcs and laptops are a good bit cheaper there than here.

Laptops are a bit more expensive here and you have to special order English windows.
Desktops are comparable and readily available.
English XP and VISTA are available (legit or pirate copies).
400k gets you an entry level system + 17" LCD
600k gets you an OK mid level system (core2duo) + 20" LCD.
1 million gets you a nice gamers machine.
*LCD monitors included in the pricing.
Check out the TECH forum for more specifics. |

Ah right, I was thinking components and the sort were a good bit cheaper.
Not to worry, Ill buy or build me a new pc over there. Just a pity, I like what I have now but it would never be worth the hassle sending it over.
Cheers man though.
Your full of information for everyone. Its very helpful.
edit: or no actually.. those prices are actually a good bit cheaper than ireland |

You can do what I originally did, which was remove the key components, package them well, and have them shipped to you when you get settled. A hd, mb, and video card don't weigh much at all. The other things, like case, power supply, keyboard, etc., are easily obtainable and cheap. |

Ttompatz: Can you suggest a specific place near Seoul for a gamers machine? I have a copy of the new EA / Command and Conquor Game.....Generals, Tiberium War. I never got to play it in the US but I brought it over here in hopes of being able to. |

mid-level or bottom level PC's IE $100 video card/nongaming computers are cheap.
High level serious FPS gaming rigs will cost a lot because they have to rush import the parts. |

Is the problem with your CPU being too slow or just needing an upgraded video card or do you need a new machine?
In the son-in-plaza at Yongsan you can get gefore7600 (256MB) video cards for under 70k won.
If you need a new machine:
CPU - E4300
RAM - 1 gig DDR2 PC2-4200
Video - GeForce 8500GT
HDD - SATA2 - 160gig (7200rpm)
DVD-combo drive
20.1" LCD monitor
659k - call 031-608-6400
You can also take these specs to Yongsan and price shop them to get a slightly better deal (cash sale). |
