Hi guys

How do i get a cell phone. I have been advised that i need to pay a deposit for the phone. If i have a credit card does that change anything?

Are there any stores that you know in Seoul who sell phones to foreigners.

Yongsan is your best bet, but take a Korean friend with you. They'll try to burn you on the rate plans, for sure.

Most companies require a 200,000 won deposit from foreigners. LG however, does not. They're the most foreigner-friendly company, in my experience.

I got a decent phone, a 25,000 won/month rate for an ungodly amount of minutes/messages, and all the works from LG.

I'd recommend LG too. The one nearest to Gangnam subway station has a fluent English speaking manager.

Have had no problems with my LG contract.

Another question:
Is your phone under your own name or is it under a Korean friend's name. Also do you have a Korean credit card?
