|
|
Hello, I apologize in advance if this topic was already mentioned before...I did a search and only came up with pages upon pages of "what to do in Pohang", "Pohang vs Seoul", etc type posts.
I have to get to Pohang within 2 weeks and my travel agent gave me an itinerary where I would have to fly to Incheon, stay overnight, find my own way to Gimpo airport the next day, and then fly to Pohang airport.
I was wondering if there was a quicker way than this...at the very least, I would prefer transfering to Gimpo on the same day, but the agent said it wasn't an option. From looking online, I see that there's a train or bus option (~4.5hrs) to Gyeongsan from the Incheon airport so I was wondering if this is feasible for me with 2 full-sized suitcases. What about flying to Gimhae airport instead - would it be closer and easier to travel to Pohang from there? Any advice, instructions, or links would be much appreciated! |

Go to this website and put in "pohang" in the destination search. There's one bus. Click on details for the times. Its a long ride (it really shouldn't take that long. it must stop at a lot of rest stops). Anyway, thats your option by bus if you want to go direct. It would be simple and easy with no extra transfers. Trains would require a transfer.
Flying to Gimhae is closer, but it wouldn't necessarily be easier, as you would still have to get on a bus to get to Pohang. |

there is a direct airport bus from ICN to Pohang, one in the am, one in the pm. Stops twice on the way, takes about six hours. Drops off at the intercity bus terminal. |

Thanks for the link and inputs! I didn't know it was so cheap and easy to get to Gimpo airport, though I'm not too sure if I can manage my suitcases and carryon on a train. How do people manage their luggage on the train? If it's convenient, and I can find a smooth connection, this would definitely be the best choice. I would only bus it to avoid spending a night in Seoul.
Azzwell - do you know what time the direct airport bus leaves in the am and pm? From Kat2's link, it sounds like there are 4 buses at 08:00 09:40 19:30 21:30. How current is this airport website? I discovered another bus schedule totally different online. |

sorry, cant help you with exact times, I have not lived in Pohang for two years and that was the last time I took the airport bus. I just know that their is one and it runs a few times a day.
As far as I know the airport website should be up to date. Failing that it is super easy to take an airport limo to Gimpo. Thousands of people do it everyday. there are places for luggage and such and people to help you. If you cannot carry your bags, just get a luggage cart down in customs. |

There's also frequent buses (like every 15-30 minutes) between Inchoen and Gimpo. Rent a luggage cart (or maybe they are free) at inchoen. Roll your luggage to the bus area. The driver will load your bags on the bus. He'll drive you to gimpo, get a cart at gimpo. Voila. You don't have to do too much carrying.
A lot of hte hotels around incheon airport offer free shuttles to and from incheon, so you can easily catch teh bus to Gimpo if need be in the morning. |
