when i bought my apartment...i paid for it in cash
it was 90,000,000 won
i had it all in 10,000 wons, in a duffel bag.....but i didn't feel gansta enough....so i went to the bank and asked them for some smaller bills

Some new changes have come about in the bank notes. The Bank seal has changed from red circle to a square ,color same as the color of the particular note. Moreover, the Bank's name printed on the backside of the note has changed from "The Bank of Korea" to "Bank of Korea". Some security measures have also been introduced on the bank notes like the introduction of EURion constellation on every bank note. Previously it was applicable only for Series V 10,000 won notes. Now on there will be color changing holograms for 5000 and 10,000 won notes.

even india has 1000 rupee note (~~ 20,000 won)
korea must bring out bigger notes soon
but wat i love abt the new notes is tht they fit very well in teh wallet...
the old notes just DONT! they are too wide |

A buddy of mine took eight million in cash to the airport and had no problem. When you cash the cheques, the teller will want to see id and take info like where you live. I have no idea but, if you're leaving the country, there could be problems.
Anyone cash out at the airport using cheques? |

I had used a Visa debit card for years before I came to Korea - I think I was the first kid on my block to have one. I spent a large part of my life with no cash on me save a US $50 bill that I had folded into a little square and hid in the corner of my wallet to use only in case of an emergency. I put the bulk of my cash in my US bank account into a CD before I left for Korea.
Ahh�the good old days of living in a place with a modern, accessible banking system. As a foreigner, do you know where I can get a card like that? |
