The D2 blows the ipod out of the water for battery life. I got this from Cnet:
Quote: |
The rated battery life of 52 hours for audio and 10 hours for video is also nothing to scoff at; indeed, it's very impressive, and the D2 pretty well proved itself in CNET Labs testing. We got about 50 hours for music and 10 hours for video--simply awesome. |
Compared to the ipod nano (both 4GB - Also from Cnet:

Apple rates the iPod Nano for 14 hours, on the lower side for flash-based players, though the iPod Shuffle lasted only 12 hours in CNET Labs' tests. We regularly see flash models with rechargeable cells last into the late teens or early 20s, whereas alkaline-powered players can last more than 40 hours. CNET Labs was able to get 15 hours, 21 minutes in our standard drain test, an unspectacular but solid number. |
So basically, the d2 gets 50 hours of audio to ipods 15... |

Way better, I left mine running overnight on video at the highest settings (brightness and sound) and it was around 9-10 hours.

Battery is inside and is not removable. Some people have however opened their D2 to replace their batteries.

I've used Cowon afterservice twice now and both times came away impressed by how reasonable their rates were. I had the headphone jack of my X5L repaired and they replaced the battery because it needed it for a total of 50,000 won. I also had the hard drive repaired/replaced for 32,000 won a few months later. (Both trips were the result of drops, not any inherent flaw of the device.)
So, I would guess that getting the battery replaced would cost a similar amount on the D2. |
