I'd like to hear stories from people in Korea who are actually having good experiences. It seems there are many who just whine and complain about everything in these forums. I'm trying to figure out if these boorish people go over there with a bad attitude already (and then vent their frustrations on this website) or if it's Korea that makes them bitter and jaded. Somehow I think it's the former...

I realize life isn't perfect anywhere and crap happens sometimes. But please use this thread to post some positive stories or experiences you've had in Korea to encourage those of us who may come over there! Thank you. Laughing

My first job in Korea (at a hagwon) was wonderful. I really enjoyed the work and the environment.

I moved to a hakkyo and the working conditions are crappy, the administration is awful and I generally resent everything because of this. Finding a good employer is key, but it can also be hit-or-miss.

I've been here ten years as well, and am happy as Larry. As are all my friends. And my wife. And daughter. And the majority of other foreigners you meet.

This board and some the morons who post on it are not an accurate representation of the foreign population living here, nor their attitudes toward the country. A lot of my friends never visit this site because of all the bullsh!t and whining you see here on a daily basis.

*Raises hand*. I was also a soldier here for a year and kind'a like to think I served for two countries at once. Protected the people and taught the children....now, back to my job hunting...

I have a great job, my wife is amazing, and the Korean snacks on the street are delicious (when I don't get food poisoning)! Wink

Thanks indytrucks. Good to know this site isn't an accurate representation. I'll keep that in mind as I continue to do my planning for Korea.

Keep the stories coming folks! Good to hear there are happy expats in Korea!!! Very Happy

Life in Korea isn't perfect, but what is? I'm very happy here. I like my job, my co-workers, and my city. I came with a positive attitude, and that hasn't changed.

It's hard to measure but I'm pretty sure I'm still happier than I was back home.

Kind of ironic in a sense as you are without a doubt one of the most miserable complainers on here.
